8-6; +4.52pts (system plays: 1-1-1) Round 1 plays (2pts unless stated): Rory Sabbatini to beat Steven Bowditch -104 @ Pinnacle [also available @ 5Dimes, The Greek and Carib] [4pts] WON by 1 Sabbatini is a player to back in rd1. He was 4th last year on this course after rd1 and in his previous visit in 2011, he was 12th after rd1; Bowditch is making his course debut. And in terms of their h2h stats, Sabbatini leads Bowditch 14-6-0 over the last 12 months. In terms of form, Bowditch did finish 2nd in the Frys.com Open, but it was only his second top-20 finish since winning the Texas Open in March so he looks unlikely to repeat that form this week. Jeff Overton to beat David Lipsky -135 @ 5Dimes WON by 6 Easy to oppose Lipsky. He has finished 61st-mc in the last two weeks on the Asian PGA Tour and he has missed the cut in last two Malaysian Opens on this course. Overton has finished 2nd, 16th and 16th in the last three years in this event and has missed just one cut in his last ten starts. Tim Clark to beat Cameron Smith -120 @ 5Dimes LOST by 2 Unlike Lipsky, Smith has shown some form on the Asian PGA Tour recently, but he is making his course debut whereas Clark has finished 18th and 31st in his two previous visits. It is only three months since Clark won the Canadian Open and he has shown enough form in the last few weeks to suggest that he should play well this week. Gary Woodland to beat Patrick Reed -116 @ Bet365 [also available @ Paddy Power] LOST by 1 This will be Woodland's first start since finishing 9th in the Tour Championship, but he did finish 2nd last year after a playoff loss so there is good reason to expect a strong showing this week. Reed finished 14 shots behind Woodland last year and didn't match Woodland's form in the PGA Tour Playoffs so I'll predict a repeat of last year's ordering for these two players. [unofficial rd1 system play: Westwood tb Schwartzel -110 (W)] Round 2 plays (4pts): John Senden to beat Seung-Yul Noh +115 @ Bet365 WON by 1 A good price to back an excellent player in matchups. Noh had the better of the first round, but Senden has finished 26th or better in each of his last five starts and I'm confident that he will still match that this week. He has a 5-2-1 h2h record against Noh since May, so there is certainly value in these odds. Lee Westwood to beat Patrick Reed +110 @ Paddy Power WON by 5 And so with Westwood on this course. Westwood not only won the Malaysian Open in April on this course, but he also won the 2007 Malaysian Open. Reed has played in Asia just once previously and finished 40th in this event two years on that occasion. He did finish ahead of Westwood today and the odds reflect that rather than Westwood's proven ability in this region. Gary Woodland to beat Ryan Moore +110 @ Bet365 [also available @ 5Dimes, Pinnacle, The Greek and Carib] LOST by 1 A matchup between the two playoff contenders last year and once again I'm backing the player with the worse rd1 score and so the odds reflect that performance rather than their long-term general abilities: Moore didn't make it to the Tour Championship where Woodland finished in the top-10, but in each of the other three Playoffs events, he finished behind Woodland every time. J.B. Holmes to beat Anirban Lahiri -105 @ 5Dimes LOST by 5 Two players well down the leaderboard. Lahiri is the form player on the Asian PGA Tour, but he does have a rather mixed record in co-sanctioned events. For Holmes, this is his first event since the Tour Championship, so rustiness could have been an issue in rd1 and thus less of an issue in rd2. [unofficial rd2 system play: Beljan tb Slocum +115 (L)] Round 3 plays (2pts): Retief Goosen to beat Steven Bowditch -112 @ Pinnacle [also available @ 5Dimes, The Greek and Carib] WON by 5 Robert Allenby to beat Antonio Lascuna -105 @ 5Dimes WON by 1 James Hahn to beat Charlie Beljan -105 @ 5Dimes and Pinnacle [also available @ The Greek and Carib] WON by 6 Round 4 plays (2pts): Sergio Garcia to beat Gary Woodland -133 @ Bet365 LOST by 2 Woodland did lost out in a playoff for this event last year, but Garcia is more proven player in these 'international' events. He is also been a far better player as shown by the World Rankings (4th vs 49th) and their head-to-head record: Garcia leads Woodland 8-2-2 over the last 12 months, including 7-20 in rd4 alone. Both players are in the top-5, but Garcia looks far more likely to win. Lee Westwood to beat Danny Lee -165 @ Carib [also available @ 5Dimes, Pinnacle and The Greek] TIED Westwood dropped down the leaderboard after his Friday 65, but with both players in the top-20, this is a good opportunity to oppose Lee. The New Zealand player has played in 29 events in the last 12 months, but secured just three top-30 finishes in that period and missing the cut more than half of the time. It looks unlikely that he will maintain his current position with that form. Jeff Overton to beat Brian Stuard -110 @ SkyBet LOST by 7 Opposing Stuard who opened with 67 to end rd1 in 2nd place, but has been unable to break par since and now fallen to 18th place. This is the form that has seen him miss the cut in each of the last three weeks on the new 2014-15 season, but Overton is the obvious pick both in terms of form and history on this course. Lee Westwood to beat Seung-Yul Noh -133 @ Bet365 WON by 8 Noh is another who has fallen down the leaderboard with his inability to break par in rd3. With Westwood winning on this course earlier this year, I'd expect him to bounce back today even though both players are now too far behind the leaders to win the event. [unofficial rd4 system play: Senden tb Smith -120 (T)]
