Simon Dyson to beat Richie Ramsay 6 points @ 19-20 (Boylesports) Dyce comes here ready to start winning again and where better than the Tour on which he first made his name? The controversy over his suspended ban looks to have dies down and he is now playing more consistent golf, as befits a man with four Asian and five Euro victories. Consistent top-20 finishes are mixed with a few missed-cuts so far this year but lately his game has been in very good shape, 10th in South Africa followed by mid-table finishes and latterly 8th in China. In fact, the result from last week could and should have been better given his almost perfect first round 67 when he says he hit everything exactly how he wanted and that 'the first nine holes was the best I have played in quite some time'. Dyce loves it in Asia, where he topped the rankings some years ago and surprisingly given his pale complexion has no trouble with high temperatures or humidity. Although some years ago, the Yorkie has a 3rd place finish around here in 2007 and looks ready to peak on a course that will reward his accurate play.
It does no harm to the bet looking at their head-to-head. Dyson leads 10-6 over the period of 15 months or so, but crucially is in front of Ramsay at the Ballantines last year (the event that this one replaces), and in Kuala Lumpur and China over the last few weeks. Ramsay has little form in Singapore with a 13th sandwiched by missed-cuts on a different track and whilst he showed signs of top form on his first three starts following return from injury, his form has tailed off with a m/c and 32. They are both similsr players but there is enough there to think Dyson has the edge in winning mentality and form under these conditions, enough to play anyway.
