Outright Picks - European Challenge Tour

Tipster: Bayly

Odds: Outright

Thomas Bjorn Open

I am a little lost for words as to what to say about this tournament. Conditions were brutal and the picks did not fair well. Admittedly Nilbrink started well but ultimately he was never a player I had enormous confidence in holding on when the conditions really deteriorated. Loss=10pts.

The Great Dane has put his name to the next stop on the European Challenge Tour and it certainly is a tough one. Do not be distracted by the 6,955 yardage of Esbjerg Golfklub as it is truly testing and nothing like last weeks birdie extravaganza in Morocco. The first thing that most people will notice about the betting for this tournament is that Desvonde Botes is a mere 16/1 with Skybet. He has had two back to back wins on the Sunshine Tour which should be respected as current form is often the most crucial ingredient for success. However, he is traveling this week out of his native South Africa to a very tough course and I would be reluctant to give as much weight to his recent form as Skybet clearly have. His Tour-Tips rating is not even in the top 25 so be wary.

The following picks are all 1pt and are all good value.

Gary Clark 66/1 @ Skybet

What can I say he has course form and current form and is a class player who simply should not be this price. Top 25's in Course, Current and Tour-Tips rating should ensure he is in the book this week.

Michele Reale 80/1 @ Skybet

Be careful to make sure you play on M.Reale and not the other Reale. Once again a player who has top 25's in all three of the same categories as Clark and the price should be snapped up.

Colm Moriarty 40/1 @ Skybet

Tomas Jesus Munoz 66/1 @ Skybet

Both these players are in fine form and after Moriarty only just missed out last week it should not be long before he is demanding quotes lower than this. Munoz is a player who I think thrives on tough courses as shown by his gritty victory in the Peugeot Challenge.

Paul Nilbrink 80/1 @ Skybet

This final selection is based entirely on his course form and the level of consistency he has shown in Denmark. However, his two top 25s in February show that he is a more than capable player out of Denmark.
