Tom Watson 16/1 e.w. @ Bet365/BlueSq/Stan James        (Total Stake: 1.5pts)

The Royal Aberdeen course is proper links golf and should suit players that hit greens in regulation and strong putters. Watson’s record on links courses speaks for itself and this showed last weekend where his links game essentially carried him through the tournament. He is supremely accurate and in fine form. In addition to finishing 41st in last weeks Open, previously he had finished 3rd in the Ford Senior Players Championship and 2nd in the Bayer Advantage Classic (where he did not hit a single bogey). 16/1 is pretty decent price for a player of his stature in good current form and the 2003 winner should go close again.

Mark James 33/1 e.w. @ Bet365/Centrebet/Stan James         (Total Stake: 1pt)

For a field of this class a price of 33/1 would have been understandable for James, but not when you account for his excellent links record. James is a links specialist; he is accurate of the tee, has excellent GIR stats and is a sound putter. He was slightly disappointing in last weeks Players Championship but his recent form is sound and his overall links record is as sound as they get. A more realistic price would be around the 20/1 mark.

Luis Carbonetti 125/1 e.w. @ Centrebet                                    (Total Stake: 0.5pts)

In terms of current form Carbonetti has finished in the top 20 in each of his last 5 starts and in his latest start he matched easy winner Mason for the final 2 rounds. He is both an excellent iron player and putter which should help around this course. There is the obvious question mark regarding his ability to handle the links course as last years missed cut was a bit of a shocker. However, 125/1 is a huge price for a player who has finished in the top 10 in almost 50% of the senior tour events he has competed in.
