Dunhill Links Championship

Tournament Trades (Andy)

Finishing Positions (0.5 pt stakes)

Sell Paul Casey at 29 with IG Sport M/U 49. Loss 10 pts. Poor week from Casey, Never in contention.

A good field at the Dunhill this week, although it has to be said from where I sit, about 100 miles from the courses used it is not going to be similar weather to the last time an event was played in Scotland in July. However, it is the same for everyone and on previous form Casey is high at 29. Finishes of 16/3/6/21 in his last 4 events suggest Casey is playing to a level better than his quote suggests. This price is possibly due to a MC last year when his form was similar. It is worth the risk though to expect him to do better this time.

Sell Peter Lonard at 34 with Spreadex M/U 38.5, Loss 2.25 pts. Lonard fell away the longer the week went on after an opening 65. Considering he didn't break 71 the last three days whilst others were shooting mid 60's, the 2.25 pts loss is probably a good outcome.

23rd last week where a last round 76 put him well down the field. One worry is that his worst round last week was in weather similar to this but it is easy to blame weather when it could just have been poor play. He was 4th at a similar course in Ireland in July admittedly at a better time of year for playing golf on these isles. This is his first visit since 01' when he was 56th. 34 just seems a bit high.

Indices (0.5 pt stakes)

Sell Thomas Levet on Spreadex's Challengers Index at 12. M/U 0, Profit 6 pts.
Never really in doubt with 4 opponents always high up the leaderboard.

Below is a list of players in this market and the prices on offer. This is a market that until now I have not advised plays on so i will give a brief description below. The reason to oppose Levet is, as always, based on price. Of the ten players involved Levet would in my opinion be placed 3rd or 4th in the betting and would be around 8, 9 or 10 to sell. Obviously there isn't much difference in those two numbers but generally there never is much of an error from the Spread firms. Levet played well in the Singles at the Ryder Cup but struggled in the pairs and since then he has finished mid-field at Mount Juliet. He is possibly priced as eq. fav. due to the fact he won in Scotland in July but St. Andrews and Loch Lomond are as far apart as you can get in Course characteristics. In three previous visits to this event, 58th is his best placing and his only one where he has reached the weekend.

Scoring system:- The player who shoots the lowest 4 round total of only the players quoted gets 50 points, 2nd gets 30, 3rd 20 and 4th 10. All others receive 0 points.
