European Masters @
Betfair
Due to,
amongst other reasons, the different layouts/workings of the various
Betfair pages not being ideal, the new approach is to show another way
how to use Betfair. All the Betfair pages will now use the same
approach, that is to back players pre-tournament and then to put lays up
on Betfair as soon as possible once the event starts. This is to
hopefully recoup some points on supported players who are doing well for
at least some part of the tournament. It is about the closest one can
get to each-way betting using the outright market on Betfair alone,
although there would be endless staking plans for this system.
Please note, any bets placed on the market before the event starts are
cancelled when they introduce the in-running market. Therefore,
these lays have to be put up as soon as
possible after the market is placed in-running.
The lays will be at set prices, based on the original back price, and
are left up for the duration of the tournament.
Summary:
Fowler almost got down to the first lay price but
once he started badly on Saturday, that was that. Loss 4 pts.
Selection 1 Back:
Michael Campbell 3 pts @ 27 (advised
Monday)
Only one bookie goes as high as 25/1 so I'm
happy to get a point over that. Cambo has a super record here with a
progressive look to it: 15th in '99, 10th in both '00 & '02, and then an
admittedly distant runner-up to Els last year. Although his end result
doesn't really prove anything, he just caught my eye during the recent
USPGA, showing up more prominently for a good while than he usually does
these days in America, and I am thinking that this effort, coming after
a missed cut that followed three good performances including finishing
runner-up at Loch Lomond and when getting lots of coverage during the
first half of The Open, could well be an indication that he'll finish
the season strongly back on familiar ground. At least he has no Ryder
Cup issues on his mind!
Selection 1 Lays:
3 pts @ 7.4 (to lose 19.2 pts)
6 pts @ 3.6 (15.6 pts) Profit if successful = 43.2 pts
Adding:
Selection 2 Back:
Peter Fowler 1 pt @ 130
Fowler has managed to turn
around an absolutely disastrous season and I'm thinking that his current
run of form could continue here. After top-8s in his 2nd and 3rd
tournaments of the year, his game completely left him and he made just 3
cuts from his next 13 tournaments, with just one finish better than
60th. Suddenly, though, he finished 8th about six weeks ago in Ireland
and he hasn't looked back; 24th place in Sweden was OK and then last
week it looked, after a Saturday 64, as if the elusive second tour win
(first win was 11 years ago!) was a possibility. However, not for the
first time he fell away on the final day, from tied-5th to tied-20th and
there are obvious worries about his ability to win, but encouraging is
the fact that a few similar types have done this season. There is little
doubt he is now in top form, and with a tied-8th in 2001 here to add to
the equation I think he could reward support.
Selection 2 Lays:
1 pt @ 22 (to lose 21 pts)
2 pts @ 14 (26 pts)
4 pts @ 5.3 (17.2 pts)
8 pts @ 2.72 (13.76 pts) Profit if successful = 51.04 pts
