Volvo Masters
Tournament Trades (andy)
Summary: 14.5 pt loss. Poor end to what was a good
though not spectacular season on the spreads in Europe.
Stakes 0.5 pt per FP bet
Buy Lee Westwood FP at 17 with
Cantor Sports
MU 7.5, Loss 4.75 pts
Well it's the last week on a long European season that has seen a 46.4
pt. profit on the season from both Shaker and myself. On the last week i
would like to think we can clear the 50pt mark with three trades that
are just a little too low on the FP offers. First up is Westwood. I
would assume that i have bought Lee's FP more than any other player this
year and it is because, rather than having a fixation with him, that he
is being regularly priced on past scoring and not current. His FP
average (not incl. ties) this calendar year is 28 on European soil. This
week, Luke Donald has the same quote. His average is just over 16. It
just doesn't add up.
Buy Trevor Immelman FP at 23 with
Cantor Sports
MU 9.5, Loss 7.5 pts
This is another numbers play. Immelman averages around 29th place when
taking all his Tour results into account. 9th last week in Spain
suggests he is in form but two of his other three Top 10 places this
year were followed by 50 Make Ups on FP trading. He doesn't seem a
player who goes on bursts of form.
Buy Graeme McDowell FP at 21 with
Cantor Sports
MU 16.5, Loss 2.25 pts.
Final bet of the season may be the maddest. Form record of
9/16/6/3/14/2/19 in 156 runner fields suggests buying at 21 in a 54 man
field is financial suicide. My reasoning though is that no matter how
well McDowell has improved he has showed on a few occasions this season
that his post cut scoring doesn't seem to match his pre-cut so he could
fall backwards come Sunday in an event with no cut. One option is to buy
his FP on Saturday night but as i'm off for a weekend in the Emerald
Isle I won't be able to study the prices and see if the value is there
at that time. I certainly wouldn't put anyone off adopting that policy
though.
