Abu Dhabi Golf Championship

Spread Betting News (Sporting Index)

Summary: 3 Bets, 3 Losses, Total Loss 31.75 Pts. Disastrous week that was summed up perfectly with Stenson and DiMarco's R3 scores. Unfortunately the States doesn't look any better.

 Round One Bets.

Buy Henrik Stenson FP at 21 with IG Sport for 0.5 Pts M/U 2, Loss 9.5 Pts
This price seems to heavily based on potential rather than known scoring. Stenson is one of the up and coming stars of European golf. However, in 62 events on Tour he has beat this quote only 3 times out of 10 and has missed as many cuts as he has bettered this quote. I did consider Sporting Index at 29 but although he could earn more there if he finished outwith 50th, the lower quote from IG is probably better value.

Buy Chris DiMarco FP at 27 with IG Sport for 0.5 Pts M/U 1, Loss 13 Pts
DiMarco has played on this tour three times, he openly admits this week that this is a new venture for him to come over for a non-major. In those three visits he has missed one cut and finished outside the top 50 the other twice. Admittedly they were majors in poorer conditions than the sun he will take part in this week. However, he has no knowledge of the green types in the Middle East, the food, the humidity, and even allowing for all that he has a fair standard field against him this week so put all that in the mix and 31/32 would be a fairer midpoint of his chances this week.

Round Two Bets.

Buy Charl Schwartzel FP at 27 with Sporting Index / Bet HiLo for 0.5 Pts M/U 8.5, Loss 9.25 Pts
Schwartzel played well yesterday to finish the day tied 5th. He scrambled well, getting up and down 5 from 5 and having no 3 putts. However, looking at the leaderboard he sits only 4 shots above the cut line and has a late tee time tomorrow. It isn't inconceivable that he could depart the event tomorrow. It is unlikely but more possible than the price implies. Certainly the 27 at Sporting with the chances of either a M/C or a finish outwith 50th is a better price than the 24 at the "old style" scoring of the other firms.
