FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -3.00pts Dredge 52nd
Orr 19th
Wall 42nd Dredge had been well-placed after the first round, but there was no
interest left in this event after Friday. Outright plays (total stake per play: 1pt) Bradley Dredge to win 25/1
e.w. available generally
Avoiding those players who competed at Winged Foot last week whether they were
in contention or not as, apart from the fatigue factor, the simple fact that
there are five par-5s on this course is enough evidence that this course will be
very different to that set up for the U.S. Open last week. So with two weeks
rest, this should be a good opportunity for the likes of Dredge to win again on
Tour. He has finishes of 5th, 6th and 7th in three of his last five starts and
did finish 2nd behind Emanuele Canonica last year. That's solid enough form to
suggest that he will contend again this week. Gary Orr to finish in the
top-five 9/1 @
BetFred
Orr is another showing good consistency at the moment. He finished 3rd in the
Open de Espana in April and has finished 6th and 7th in his last two starts. It
has been quite a comeback from the loss of confidence that led to him losing his
Card after the 2004 season and being forced to re-earn his Card last season from
only a small number of events that he could enter, but an 8th place finish in
this event last year certainly helped secure his full-time return to the Tour in
2006. He has had a lot of high finishes, but without really threatening to win,
so the place-only option looks the best way to profit from his consistency.
Anthony Wall to finish in the top-five 11/1 @
BetFred
The same can be said for Wall. He finished 2nd in the Algarve Open de Portugal
in April and in his last three starts, he has finished 5th, 6th and 14th. He
currently ranks 22nd and one place behind Dredge in the Ryder Cup European
Points List, so there really shouldn't be any pressure from possible making the
team and like the other selections, he will be fresh from two weeks' rest. He
did have a top-10 finish on this course two years ago and on his current form,
it should be likely this week as well. |
