Outright plays (total stake per play: 1pt)
Simon Khan to win 40/1 e.w. @
ToteSport 12th
One poor event doesn't turn Khan into an 'out-of-form' player. He was never
really in contention last week , but in his previous five events, he had
finished 7th in the BMW International Open, 3rd in the Open de France (leader at
the cut), 11th in the Scottish Open (4th at the cut) and held the first round
lead in the Deutsche Bank Players' Championship of Europe. That form should
really be to good for this weak field and the odds certainly do not reflect
that.
Anthony Wall to win 66/1 e.w. available generally [Upate: 66/1
and six places @
Sunderlands] 80th
This is Wall's first event after withdrawing from the PGA Championship with
heat-related illness, but the fact that he is only one of six players in this
field that qualified or were invited to play in that event shows that he is a
class apart from most of this field. His form is erratic, but 3rd last month in
the European Open is encouraging and so is the course itself: "Short. Windswept.
Links" (Dave Tindall). Albeit longer in length, Carton House was the setting for
last year's Irish Open which Wall led heading into the final round.
Sam Walker to win 80/1 e.w. available generally [Upate: 80/1 and
six places @
Sunderlands] 27th
After missing the cut in 15 of his first 17 starts this year, Walker's game has
been transformed over the last six weeks. Over that period, he has finished
52nd, 20th, 9th and 12th to become one of the most in-form players in this
field. And while he shares with Khan and Wall an absence from this course's
debut last season, he has, like Wall, some good performances on links courses:
his Challenge Tour victory last year was at the Murcar Links Golf Club.
