Round 1 play (2pts):
Richard Green to beat Anders Hansen -137 @ Unibet WON by 2 Taking a cautious approach for round one with just one play, but should be able to find more value once the tournament is under way with over 10 hours of continuous TV coverage tomorrow alone! In terms of this matchup, these are two players with very different aptitudes to links golf. Green is a fine player near the sea, of which his 4th place finish at Carnoustie last year is just one example, whereas Hansen's successes tend to come on inland parkland courses, with his best record in this event being 57th from five previous atttempts. In fact, he has yet to finish ahead of Green in either this event or any event over the last three months
Round 2 plays (2pts):
Jim Furyk to beat Robert Allenby -125 @ Carib WON by 2 Steve Stricker to beat Robert Allenby +135 @ Pinnacle [also available @ Unibet and WSEX] WON by 2 Allenby has held the first round lead just three times outside Australia over the last decade and three times he has finished the 2nd day down the leaderboard. He played well in the easier conditions today, but Furyk and Stricker have the better record in this event and have both shown enough form recently to suggest they will still be on the leaderboard at the start of the weekend
Anthony Kim to beat Graeme McDowell -115 @ Carib LOST by 1 Two players who won on their last outing, but while McDowell may have the form to continue as today, he will face enormous pressure from not leading but as a 'home' player. It is hard to see him replicating today's form under that added pressure
Tom Lehman to beat Johan Edfors -114 @ Unibet WON by 1 Lehman was very solid form tee-to green and should make the cut from this position; Edfors should miss the cut yet again in this event from his position
David Frost to beat Simon Khan -105 @ Pinnacle [also available @ WSEX] LOST by 1 Frost has finished ahead of Khan in each of their last 10 common events. He is currently two shots ahead of him after round 1 and the head-to-head dominance should continue for another week
Round 3 plays (2pts):
Jay Williamson to beat Simon Wakefield -110 @ Bet365 [also available @ Five Dimes] LOST by 7 Wakefield has missed three cuts in the last four weeks and now he is in contention in a Major Championship and is paired with Sergio Garcia in the third round. I can't see Wakefield performing well under such pressure as well as Williamson who came through a pressure situation last week to earn the last place in this field
K.J. Choi to beat Camilo Villegas -115 @ Pinnacle [also available @ Bet365] WON by 4 Choi is an excellent front runner. He has held the 36-hole six times on the PGA Tour and not only has he still held that lead four of those six times after the third round, but he has gone on to win in five of those six occasions. Having Greg Norman as a playing partner will also help with any pressure that would otherwise fall upon the leader of a Major Championship
Further Round 3 play (2pts)
Jay Williamson to beat Chris Wood -123 @ Unibet LOST by 4 Opposing Wood who chipped in at the last hole yesterday to provoke a media frenzy about a possible repeat of Justin Rose ten years ago. That can only add to the pressure of today, particularly as he only leads the amateur standings by one shot, so I'm backing Williamson to be steady and for another of his opponents to falter in the third round. With a lot of firms pricing up Williamson -125 with ties lose, that should also be an indication of the value in this price with ties void
Round 4 plays (2pts):
Doug Labelle to beat Chris Wood -120 @ Five Dimes LOST by 3 Labelle has been quietly hitting a lot of fairways and greens, so should be a dependable player to back if Wood does succomb to the pressure tomorrow
Lucas Glover to beat Woody Austin +105 @ Five Dimes LOST by 2 An early 8am tee-time should help Glover even who is also a proven wind player
Steve Stricker to beat Retief Goosen +105 @ WSEX [also available @ Pinnacle] WON by 3 Steve Stricker to beat K.J. Choi -105 @ Carib WON by 6 Stricker is also a good wind player and with back-to-back 71s is right back in this tournament. He should certainly match last year's top-10 finish and should be a good match for Goosen who continues to struggle on the back nine and Choi who should be exhausted after today's trial
Tom Lehman to beat Todd Hamilton -110 @ Five Dimes [also available @ Pinnacle, Bet365 and WSEX] TIED Take the eight off Lehman's card from the first round and he would be in the top-5; bar that hole he has looked very comfortable this week and should win this battle of former champions
Rocco Mediate to beat Davis Love +107 @ Pinnacle [also available @ WSEX] LOST by 1 Good price to back a player whose confidence is sky-high and who has yet to finish behind his opponent in any event over the last 3 months
Camilo Villegas to beat Justin Leonard +122 @ Pinnacle [also available @ WSEX] LOST by 3 Villegas found the wind too strong for his game today, but that doesn't mean he will struggle in the calmer conditions tomorrow. When he has a 10-4-0 h2h lead over Leonard over the last 12 months, there is clearly some value in these odds
