2-6; -5.00pts
Round 1 plays (1pt):
Peter Baker to beat Sion E. Bebb -115 @ Five Dimes LOST by 5 Seven appearances and seven cuts made for Baker; Bebb has missed his last four cuts here and has never broken 70 in any attempt. That is significant around this quirky side-of-a-mountain course
Ian Garbutt to beat Mattias Eliasson -115 @ Five Dimes LOST by 5 Similar reasoning here with Garbutt in the top-15 in the last two years and Eliasson missing six of eight cuts here; Garbutt also leads 12-7-1 h2h in the 1st round over the last 12 months
Nuno Campino to beat Joao Pedro Sousa -115 @ Five Dimes WON by 3 Neither should make the cut, but at least Campino has done so in 6 of 27 Tour starts; Sousa has never done so in 13 attempts. The fact the Campino tees off first in the morming and Sousa almost last in the afternoon should help as the winds are expected to pick up very strongly during the day
Ricardo Santos to beat Marco Soffietti -115 @ Five Dimes WON by 2 Another basement battle, but the Portuguese Santos has made the cuts in both previous visits here and should have an advantage over Soffietti who is making his course debut
Olivier David to beat Ben Evans -115 @ Five Dimes LOST by 6 Backing the more experienced player who has shot 66 and 69 in two of his three opening rounds at Santo da Serra; Evans is making his course debut and has missed four of his previous five Tour cuts
Round 2 play (1pt):
Jarmo Sandelin to beat Paul Waring -125 @ Five Dimes LOST (Sandelin DQ) Big difference between these two in how they played today. Sandelin ranked 30th in driving accuracy and 13th in greens in regulation; Waring ranked 6th-worst and 4th-worst in these two categories. Only Sandelin looks capable of getting back under the cut line tomorrow
No Round 3 plays.
Round 4 plays (1pt):
Pedro Linhart to beat Edoardo Molinari -103 @ Five Dimes LOST by 9 A question of motivation here. Linhart plays this week only because he is a former winner (1999), but he has more recently shown his liking for this course by finshing 3rd two years ago. With that background and as a part-time Tour professional, he looks much likely to play well tomorrow than Molinari who has struggled on the greens this week
Francois Delamontagne to beat Joakim Backstrom -130 @ Five Dimes LOST by 1 Two players who earned their Tour Cards at Q-School and both lie in 20th place, so this represents a good opportunity tomorrow. Both have been in this position a couple of times this season, but have responded differently: Delamontagne shot 68 and 74 in South Africa, finishing 9th and 21st, but Backstrom shot 72 and 75, again in South Africa, to finish 16th and 46th
Michael Lorenza-Vera to beat Alastair Forsyth +100 @ Five Dimes TIED No hesitation in backing the #1 ranked player on the Challenge Tour last year in this situation. He lies in 4th place and is well-placed to overtake 2nd-place Forsyth who has never won in seven attempts when 2nd or 3rd with one round to play on the European Tour
