Judging by the weather forecast the elements are going to have a major impact this week, particularly in determining who makes it through to the weekend. Those with Thursday late / Friday early tee time combinations could have a significant advantage if forecasts are proved right and these recommendations are advised accordingly: 9 pts Lee Westwood to beat Rory Mcilroy 5/6 (paddy power - tie no bet) Aside from a probable draw advantage Westwood has a lot in his favour. Firstly he leads Mcilroy 16-8 since the start of 2010 and 38-23 since 2007 - a clear advantage. Secondly all the pressure is on Rory this week and expectations from everyone are sky high on his first appearance back since his incredible US Open victory. Lastly Rory himself has admitted his high ball flight is not ideally suited to links golf, particularly if the wind starts blowing as expected. 6.6 pts Brandt Snedker to beat Martin Laird 5/6 B365 Not convinced that Laird's game is much suited to links golf in windy conditions and again he looks to be on the wrong side of the draw. Snedeker recovered well from a poor first round last week and is a good wind player and fine putter, in a similar mould to 2003 winner Ben Curtis. 5.5 pts Jeff Overton 10/11 to beat F.Molinari Overton returning to form and has an impressive Open record. Molinari game has been in the doldrums for a while now and unlikely to relish this test.
