R1 Match Bets at Sporting Index. (unless stated)

Sell Hunter Mahan over Anders Hansen at 4 M/U -28, Profit 16 Pts
Mahan doesn't have a particularly good Open record considering his standing in the game, with a 6th in 2007 his only Top 25 to date. Hansen has had 3 2nd place finishes this year but his Open record is poor. He has yet to finish better than 57th in 8 attempts. However the price is just big enough to warrant a play.

Sell Sean O'Hair over Seung-Yul Noh at 3 M/U -22, Profit 12.5 Pts
Noh has had a disappointing year so far but his talent isn't in question and although there are a lot of negatives in his current form this bet is more an opposition of O'Hair than support of Noh. He has missed 8 cuts this year in his last 11 starts and his price is high at 3 possibly on the fact he finished 7th here last year. Coming into St Andrews last year O'Hair had finished 12, 12, 11 and I would suggest his good play last year was more the fact he was in form as his record in his 3 previous Open's was poor.

Sell Phil Mickelson over Louis Oosthuizen at 3 M/U 16, Loss 6.5 Pts

Mickelson generally plays the Scottish the week before, and usually not very well. This trend continued this year where he finished 58th, this coming after a 54th place in his own Open where he was generally fancied to do well. His Open record is poor with one Top 10 here in 2003, when he was a better player than he is now, and he failed to break par in any round that year. Oosthuizen is of course the defending champion and although playing the John Deere the week before isn't the best preparation, especially missing the cut, the negatives for him are nowhere near as strong as those for Mickelson.

Sell Stewart Cink over Testsuji Hiratsuka at 4 M/U 25, Loss 10.5 Pts
In warm up for The Open, Hiratsuka played in France, finishing 15th, then missing the cut in the shortened Scottish Open, where after a 75 start he nearly made the cut with a 69 in R2. Cink has been a much poorer player since winning this Championship 2 years ago and his results since then have included only 2 Top 10's in full field events. His current form is also poor having missed his last two cuts at the US Open and last week in the John Deere.

Sell Rhys Davies over Mark O'Meara at 6 (Spreadex) M/U 13, Loss 3.5 Pts
O'Meara has made 3 of his last 5 Open cuts and although he has never finished anywhere near the Top 40 in any of them, his R1 scores have been competitive. He shot 67 at Turnberry and 69 at St Andrews before falling away. Davies has played 2 Open's, the aforementioned ones that O'Meara started well at and missed both cuts, shooting no better than 73 in any round. I suspect Davies will finish better than O'Meara over the full week but as is always the case with Senior players, O'Meara may be at his best at the very start of the week.

Sell Rhys Davies over Mark O'Meara at 6 (Spreadex) M/U -16, Profit 11 Pts
Re-priced
after a one shot Davies win at 7-10 and with it being so tight today, 7 is a fair price.

Sell Sergio Garcia over Ryo Ishikawa at 8 (Spreadex) M/U 40, Loss 16 Pts
Ishikawa played well today after a poor start and Garcia shouldn't be an 8pt favourite when his putting can be so suspect.

Sell Phil Mickelson over Louis Oosthuizen at 3 M/U 13, Loss 5 Pts
Got no qualms about playing this one again after a 2 stroke defeat in R1. It wouldn't surprise me if Mickelson fell away and missed the cut tomorrow as today it looked like his 70 was as good a score as he could have achieved.
