Jamie Donaldson to beat Peter Hanson - 5.5 points @ 10-11 (bet365)
I was desperate to get against Martin Kaymer this week but just can't be confident of his oppo's in this market. Instead, the likeable Donaldson can cement his good season here before possibly committing to the PGA Tour. There is plenty of previous Links form to suggest that the Welshman is a good bet to beat the man who inherited Steve Davis's old nickname of 'Interesting' and yet this year, with a comprehensive win in Ireland and 23rd in The Open, he has taken his game to another level. He hasn't played here since a 4th in 2003, but recent form of 7th in the PGA and 9th in Switzerland (a course that wouldn't have been ideal) suggest he can make a strong play this week. Hanson hasn't played here for years either and can also boast snippets of recent form such as 23rd in The Open and 7th in the PGA - extremely close on that form with his oppo. However, he has never really convinced on a Links track nor that he can kick-on when in with a chance, and steady play is not going to get it done here this week. Somehow he has made the Ryder Cup team and it is a wonder why he is playing here this week after a poor show in Switzerland - will he care enough?
