'Desperately seeking Webbo'! Quite incredible how the bookmakers have left out course specialist Steve Webster from any match-bet. Peeved doesn't quite cover it as I am convinced he would beat any of his market-priced rivals over a courese he loves. Still, there we are and it's time to bite the bullet with the selection this week....
Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano to beat Anders Hansen - 3.3 points @ 10-11 (SJ) To be honest, I am no big fan of either player but Gonzo has far the best credentials and should outscore the reluctant Dane. I went against Gonzo last week purely as his putting simply could not match his figures from his win in Italy, and he duly went from ranked 1st to 95th in that respect! The selection against him, Jamie Donaldson, played like an 18 handicapper so that steady 29th was planty enough to gag up. Still, this week is another one and it should be noted that the Spaniard has some very tasty GIR figures over the last few weeks and combined with his deceptive distance off the tee (regularly top-15), he should really be outscoring his rival. Gonzo made a strong late challenge in 2011 to finish joint runner-up behind an off-the-pace Richard Green and even if he did miss the cut last season his overall recent profile suggests he will have too much for the pedestrian Hansen. The Dane hasn't a decent set of stats for over a month now and both his driving and putting need considerable improvement. He was five shots behind Gonzo in 2011 and current form doesn't suggest he can reverse this.
