Thomas Bjorn to beat Victor Dubuisson 6 points @ 10-11 (Ladbrokes)

There was never going be any doubt that Bjorn was favourite for this event in many eyes and even more of a shock than the opening 20-1 was the 9-1 stuck up about the Frenchman - a bizarre difference given their win record and course form.

As far as Dub is concerned, we all know he is a talent that may take his game to the next level. Indeed, top-10s at The Open at last time at the PGA are testament to his quality but I still see his price as slightly biased by that appearance at the World Matchplay final when his incredible short game launched him into the consciousness of an excited if ignorant US audience and commentary team.

Nevertheless, despite a 3rd here last season, he lacked in driving accuracy and has continued to do so since. Around here, his huge length off the tee will make no odds and he is always vulnerable when a course such as this demands accuracy and brains over brawn. Appreciating his injury/illness problems, whilst he raises his game for the 'biggies', his form in the regular Tour events isn't outstanding and I can see him hopping over to the PGA Tour pretty quickly where his game looks more suited to their courses.

In Bjorn, the quiet Dubusisson faces a man in love with Crans. Apart from Miguel Angel Jimenez, who makes his 26th consecutive appearance at the European Masters, Bjorn is King around here with two recent wins (2011 and 2013) and a brace of runner-up finishes amongst his impressive course form. The Dane came from two behind Craig Lee to beat him in a play-off last year and shot an almost perfect 62 in the final round in 2011 to win by four from Martin Kaymer and Jamie Donaldson. There will always be the worry of his fading away as age brings it's own problems, but aside the ludicrous brush on his chin, there seemed little wrong with his game at The Open, Bridgestone or when 4th last time out at his home event when he should have been closer but for poor putting.

Bjorn is ahead of Dubuisson in the yearly stats for total driving and scrambling - two vital aspects on this picturesque but tricky course and with the rough up after a wet Summer - and looks to have far better qualification than his rival in all aspects round here. I made Bjorn favourite for the event and certainly a 8-11 shot in this matchup.
