Evian Masters Results: 1-2 (-2.45 points); YTD -9.7 points Ochoa T2nd Han T20th Stupples 59th Ochoa managed to tie for second, but the other two were never in the hunt. Creamer really made it a one act affair. All plays 1.5 points. The Evian Masters presents us with a wider range of opportunities to consider as more bookies set markets on the event than just Skybet. While some are yet to frame their markets, I am going to post these picks now as the odds currently on offer seem attractive.
Lorena Ochoa 11/1 each way at GolfingGods (Update: 12/1 on offer at Ladbrokes and Skybet among others) Ochoa is clearly one of the better performed women on the LPGA. In 12 stroke play events in 2005 she has finished inside the top 7 on 8 occasions. thats good form in anyone's book. Add to this the fact that Ochoa has finished third in this event in the last 2 years and you have to consider her a very likely challenger. While Annika is a deserving favourite for this, Ochoa seems the better value at the price.
Hee Won Han 40/1 each way at GolfingGods Han has also had an outstanding year in the US with 5 top ten finsihes, including a 3rd in the recent event in Ohio. Her course form also reads well with a 2nd place finish in 2003, and a 6th last year. I expect her to perform strongly again.
Karen Stupples 66/1 each way at GolfingGods Stupples gives me the impression that she is on the improve. After what has been just an average season for her on the LPGA, recent weeks have indicated better days ahead. She was challenging strongly in the Women's U.S. Open until a final round 78 pushed her back to 10th positon, her best finish this year on that tour. Her next stroke play event was the English Open where she finished 5th after a final round 66 which should have given her a lot of confidence. She performed well on this course last year with a 4th placed finish, and at these odds she seems like value to my eye.
