Outright Picks - LPGA Tour

Tipster: Stanley

Sybase Big Apple Classic (1.5pts):

Michele Redman to win 25/1 e.w. @ William Hill
Redman is an infuriating player to back in the outright markets. Finishing an incredible 73% of starts in the top-25 on the LPGA Tour over the past three years, she is certainly one of the leading and most consistent players on Tour, but she finishes a great deal more between 11th and 25th than between 1st and 10th. It is a similar story this year with top-25 finishes in all seven starts, but a best finish of 8th. But 25/1 is value this week because of her course form. She has finished in the top-6 in each of the last three years and she won this event on this course in 1997. She is certain to be on the leaderboard again, but she should be a little higher this week than most.

Rachel Teske to win 33/1 e.w. @ Stan James
Teske is not as consistent, but she does win far more often. She already has one runners-up spot this year and she won back-to-back events last June, the second of which was held in New York State as is the case this week. With top-15 finishes in five of six starts on this course, these look large odds for a player who should contend. Se Ri Pak and Grace Park could dominate this event, but these are two players who should contend for at least a place finish.

Beth Daniel to win 66/1 e.w. @ William Hill
Daniel has not been contending in her five starts this year. A best finish of 32nd in her last event is not of her usual standard, but she did start the season slowly two years ago and improved considerably at the end of May. This could be a very profitable play if she does the same again this year and there is good reason to expect an improved performance this week. She has finished in the top-10 in three of the last four years, plus she won this event in 1994. Better value here than on extremely short odds for the Seoul Sisters.

Final update: 0-3; -4.50pts

Redman 21st
Teske 17th
Daniel 28th

All on the fringes of contention and Redman in 6th place going into the weekend, but no return on the outrights this week. Not that Sherri Steinhauer was ever on the radar anyway!
