Chick-fil-A Charity Championship (1.5pts):
Lorena Ochoa to win 20/1 e.w. @
SkyBet and
Paddy Power
Lived up to her promise in the first few months of last season and is
doing so again this year. She has finished 3rd, 8th and 8th in her last
three starts and it is surely only a matter of time before she gains
that first Tour victory. A closing 66 last year showed that she can
master this course and she certainly shouldn't be too far from a top-5
place. Stan James and Centrebet offer 25/1, but only four places.
Waiting to see if Five Dimes will post top-5 lines before adding any
more selections ...
Adding (1.5pts):
Michele Redman to finish in the top-five 10/1 @
Five
Dimes
Can't see either of these two beating Sorenstam, Pak and Park so opting
for the top-5 market instead. Redman had been very steady this year,
finishing no worse than 22nd in five starts. Her form has also been
solid on this course with two top-15 finishes in her last three visits,
so while winning would appear to be a very remote possibility, she does
look like she could be on the fringes of the leaderboard and so warrants
support at these odds.
Lorie Kane to finish in the top-five 10/1 @
Five
Dimes
There is an even stronger case for Kane to finish in the top-five. She
has been less consistent that Redman this year, but she did finish 4th
in Office Depot Championship earlier this month, plus she finished 8th
two weeks earlier. She also has a very good record on this course even
if the last three years have been disappointing by comparison. From her
debut in 1997 to 2000, she finished in the top-five on all four
occasions, so she certainly should be 10/1 to repeat the feat.
Final update: 0-3; -4.50pts
Ochoa 10th
Redman 10th
Kane 14th
Disappointing blank given that all three had been in the
top-five during the week and at one stage at the weekend it looked as
though all three would finish in the top-five for a bumper payout. Did
write in a PGA Tour preview this week that
"you can only ask of
your selections that they at least give themselves a chance" and they
all certainly did that. On a different day, at least one of them would
have converted their chance.
