FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -4.50pts
Jones 8th
Matthew mc
Koch 21st
Another struggle on the outrights on this Tour. Jones almost earned some
payout, but finished one shot short of a top-5 finish in the 'w/o
Sorenstam' market, while the event winner, Jimin Kang, was certainly not
on the radar as a selection.
Outright plays (total stake per play:
1.5pts) Rosie Jones to win 10/1 e.w. @
Victor
Chandler ['w/o Sorenstam' market]
Was hoping for bigger odds than this, but will still back Jones in the
'w/o Sorenstam' market. This will be her final season on
the LPGA Tour and already there is plenty of evidence that her game is
benefiting from this ‘swansong’ effect. This should be felt at the LPGA
Corning Classic more than any other tournament. She is the only
double-winner of this title and in terms of the career money list in
this event, she has amassed almost double the amount of prize money than
the 2nd-ranked player, Tammie Green. In the last fourteen
years, she has finished in the top-10 on eleven occasions. It is also
helpful that the host course being one of the shortest on Tour and
experience rather than power is rewarded in this event.
Catriona Matthew to win 16/1 e.w. @
Victor
Chandler ['w/o Sorenstam' market]
The number three has a familiar ring with Matthew. She finished in that
position on this course two years ago and she finished in that position
three times in a row before her last event, the Chick-fil-A Charity
Championship. Add in another top-10 finish last year and while she looks
as though winning is a problem, finishing in the places and perhaps even
2nd to Annika to win this market may not be so difficult. Carin
Koch to win 16/1 e.w. @
Victor
Chandler ['w/o Sorenstam' market]
Koch started this season like she ended the last in consistent top-10
form. She has since been a little off the pace each week, though still
mainly in the top-30, and not quite so consistent. However, she did win
in Mexico last month in very impressive fashion and with course form
figures that read 1st, 9th and 8th in her last three visits, she is
certainly a player to side with in what is largely a weak field bar
Annika. |
