Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic
FINAL RESULT: 2-3; -5.43pts
Lang/Baena LOST by 4
Bowie/Kim WON by 9
Gulbis/Mallon LOST by 4
Pressel/Park LOST by 8
Pressel/Park WON by 4
Ugly return on the matchups for the first time this year and, to be
honest, it was looking even worse for quite some time!
Matchup plays (1.5pts unless stated): Brittany Lang to beat Marisa
Baena -119 @
Expekt
[4.5pts]
Easy to oppose the winner of last week's match play champion. The
surprise winner completed six rounds in four days and there should be an
after-effect on tiredness, at the very least. This will be Lang's first
tournament as a pro having just finished 2nd in the U.S. Women's Open.
She has also finished ahead of Baena in both their common events this
year, by margins of six and seven shots. Heather Bowie to beat
Birdie Kim -118 @
Centrebet
Kim may be the U.S. Women's Open champion, but that is Ben Curtis-like
in terms of freak results. Bowie has great course form and has a career
record of 24-2 h2h against Kim. That makes her a very large favourite in
my book!
(also available at Nordicbet) Natalie Gulbis to beat Meg Mallon

Pretty hard to argue with a 9-0 h2h lead in 2005!
(also available at Five Dimes) Jennifer Rosales to beat Rachel
Hetherington -109 @
Expekt
[3pts]
Difficult to argue with Hetherington's course form, but having finished
behind Rosales in her last three strokeplay events, finished ahead of
her only twice in their last ten common events and having shot just one
round in the 60s in her last 19 rounds, she will certainly struggle to
maintain that course form this year. Rosales was a top-10 finisher two
years ago and looks more likely to be inside that mark this year.
(also available at Centrebet) Morgan Pressel to beat Gloria Park

[4.5pts]
Expecting a big week from Pressel, so loading up on the matchups as
well! Pressel has finished ahead of Park in four of their five common
events and Park has a poor record around this course: a best-finish of
28th in five attempts and just two of 18 rounds under 70. Morgan
Pressel to beat Nicole Perrot -114 @
Centrebet
[4.5pts]
Can't understand the selection of Perrot as an opponent for Pressel in
this matchup. She has never played this course, has missed four of her
last seven cuts and her last top-10 finish in a strokeplay event was
three months ago. No match for Pressel! |
