Outright Picks - LPGA Tour

Tipster: Stanley

Odds: Outright

Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic

FINAL RESULT: 2-1; +9.00pts

Jang 5th
Bowie 1st
Pressel 23rd

Unbelievable! Tipped Tim Clark place-only as he had never won outside South Africa and he won the Scottish Open and tipped Heather Bowie as she had never won on the LPGA Tour and she won this event! Deprived myself of 36pts!!! Bowie beat Park in a three-hole playoff, while Jang, who had been best-placed in 2nd with one round to play, could only manage a two-way share of 5th place. This could have been such a great week!

Outright plays (total stake per play: 1.5pts)

Jeong Jang to win 20/1 e.w. @ BetInternet, Victor Chandler and IASbet
Paula Creamer looks to be the form player this week, but with no course form, odds of 12/1 seem about right. Instead, I'll side with two experienced players and an amateur. Jang has never won on this Tour, but has improved in each of the last four years in the Money List, finishing 12th last year and has similarly been in contention many times this year. In her last five strokeplay events, she has finished in the top-5 three times and she has finished in the top-15 in four of five visits to this venue. At level of consistency, she should feature on Sunday.

Heather Bowie to finish in the top-five 13/2 @ Expekt
Bowie has never won on this Tour either and so the larger place-only odds are the best option with this play. But like Jang, she has very good course form and has been playing very well this year, ranking 12th in scoring average and only four of the players above her are competing this week. She has five top-10 finishes already this year and in five visits to Highland Meadows, she has finished in the top-5 three times. On none of those occasions was she playing as well as she is doing at the moment.

Morgan Pressel to win 33/1 e.w. @ BetInternet
In 2001, Pressel qualified for the U.S. Women's Open at the age of 13; four years later, she finished 2nd. And it was not that great a surprise. She had been 5th with a round to play in the first major of the season, the Nabisco Championship, and had finished in the top-25 in her previous three LPGA Tour events in 2005. While Michelle Wie may be making the headlines for two days at the John Deere Classic, the No.1 ranked amateur looks certainly good enough to making even bigger headlines on Sunday evening.
