McDonald's LPGA Championship FINAL
RESULT: 1-2; -2.06pts Ochoa 5th
Park wd
Prammanasudh 33rd Okay, so no price is good enough to back Grace Park
at the moment! At least Ochoa earned some return, but if she had birdied
the par-five last hole, the plays would have been in profit for the
week. Further outright play (total stake:
1.5pts) Stacy Prammanasudh to win 125/1 e.w. @

Some very large odds on offer this week for players that have won at
this level and the move to a new course and all the talk of the 'grand
slam' should undermine Annika's ability to stroll to this title. One
player who should be half the available odds in Prammanasudh. Playing in
only her third season on Tour, she won her first Tour event in April and
has finished in the top-15 in five of her last six events. Her only
finish outside that mark was in the last event of five consecutive weeks
of tournament golf in which he had finished in the top-15 every time,
winning once. No wonder she was tired! A two-week break followed and it
showed with an opening 75 last week, but she shot the 4th-lowest score
over the weekend to finish 11th and confirm the form that was so evident
before her break. On a new course and with such confidence, she is
certainly not a 125/1 player! Outright plays (total stake per play:
1.5pts) Lorena Ochoa to win 22/1 e.w. @

More commonly available as a joint 2nd-favourite at 14/1, Ochoa is a
player who will win many major championships. The move to a new course
will certainly help in that respect and even if she does finish 2nd for
the fourth time this year, she certainly shouldn't be at these odds. Grace Park to win 50/1 e.w. @

And nor should Grace Park. Again a mark about two-thirds of these odds
appears more appropriate for a player who was 18/1 in this event last
year. On that occasion she finished 3rd, having taken Annika to a
playoff the previous year, so the change in course will not suit Park.
However, for all her poor form this year (compared to previous years),
it is noticeable that her best finish of the year (5th) came in the
first major championship of the season. These events are where class
shows through whatever the form and that means this price is far too
large for Park. |
