Outright Picks - LPGA Tour

Tipster: Stanley

Odds: Outright

Wegmans Rochester LPGA

FINAL RESULT: 2-2; +6.38pts

Gulbis 35th
Jang 4th
Jones 3rd
Kim 10th

Three players in the top-10 and two in the payout places means a good return on the event as none of them really got close enough to challenge for the lead.

Outright plays (total stake per play: 1.5pts)

Natalie Gulbis to win 25/1 e.w. @ Bet365 and William Hill
Does not have a particularly good record on this course, but she has never approached this event in any form and that is quite the opposite at the moment. Her last ten starts have all resulted in top-25 finishes, including three top-5 finishes, such as last week's McDonald's LPGA Championship where she held the lead after the first round, but still held on well for a place finish after Annika started to dominate the event. There's no Annika this week, so a golden opportunity for some of these players to convert their form into a win.

Jeong Jang to win 25/1 e.w. @ Ladbrokes
Jang is another player in very good form with top-15 finishes in her last three starts and had been as high as 3rd with just one round to play last week before falling back to finish 13th. If she had maintained her overnight position, it would have been her third straight top-5 finish. Add that to a top-5 finish last year on this course and she is another player easily capable of winning a Tour event when Annika is away.

Rosie Jones to win 33/1 e.w. @ Boyle Sports
While Jones has not shown the form of the other two players recently, it was has been very much in evidence this season and last week's 31st place finish was her worst finish of the year apart the week when she had her clubs stolen. Five top-10 finishes in eight starts this year is impressive enough at these odds and with her course form, she should be much lower. She is a double winner of this title (1991, 1998), has never finished outside the top-40 in 18 visits to Locust Hill and has finished in the top-15 in each of the last six years and in the top-5 in four of those six years.

Mi Hyun Kim to win 40/1 e.w. @ Ladbrokes
If the odds on Jones were wrong, these are plain silly! This is a player who has finished in the top-10 in four of her last five starts, has a worst finish of 33rd in five visits to Locust Hill and finished 2nd last year and in 2002. She blew a five-shot lead over Karrie Webb in 2002 in the final round and Kim is a player who does tend to falter a little when presented with a winning opportunity, but the odds more than compensate for this.
