FINAL RESULT: 1-2; -0.25pts
Lee 23rd
Diaz 5th
Icher 67th
Looked very promising for a while. Diaz held a share of the lead at the end
of the front nine on Sunday, but her putting was terrible thereafter. She
finally missed from 5 feet on the last hole to mean that she only had a share of
5th place.
Outright plays (total stake per play: 1pt)
Seon Hwa Lee to win 25/1 e.w. @
William Hill
With three 2nd places already this year and in a field that misses Sorenstam,
Ochoa, Webb, Kerr, Inkster, Creamer and so on, Lee should not be 25/1 even if
she is a Tour rookie and so has no course form. That has not stopped her this
season and will not do so again this week around a short course that will
certainly suit her game. She may not have finished in the top-10 in her last
three starts, but at the Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open and last week's Sybase
Classic, she entered the final round in 4th place so she is still getting
herself into contention. Against such a weak field, she should be able to
convert this week.
Laura Diaz to win 40/1 e.w. @
BetInternet,
Stan James
and
Ladbrokes
The Scotia native is on her way back from a pregnancy break and missed her first
three cuts, but it has been a different story in her last four events. She was
among the early leaders in the Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open and the Franklin
American Mortgage Championship and last week she entered the final round in 4th
place alongside Lee. So the competitiveness is certainly returning and that
should continue this week. She became the first New Yorker to win this event in
2002 and can count on strong home support if she again gets into contention.
Karine Icher to win 50/1 e.w. @

A year ago, Icher held the lead after the 2nd and 3rd rounds on her debut and it
was an impressive performance in the final round as she had never been in this
position on the LPGA Tour. She opened with three birdies in the first five holes
to stretch her lead, but the pressure of having to play in the final group with
Annika Sorenstam finally told and she recorded three double-bogeys on the back
nine to finish 6th. She has missed her previous cut, though she had done the
same last year and she had shown good form since the start of April, so she
should be confident about her return to this course ... and there is no Annika
factor this week! |
