FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -3.00pts
Jang 25th
Miyazato 7th
Jeon 40th
Disappointing return after Miyazato had held the lead at numerous times
during the event, including during the final round. Being two-over-par
for the last four holes, though, meant that she even managed to finish a
shot outside the payout places.
Outright plays (total stake per play: 1pt)
Jeong Jang to win 14/1 e.w. @
Coral
Backed at the same odds last week and she finished 2nd in that event. As
is the case this week, they were playing on a new course so current form
was the basis for her selection and the same holds true this week:
"Apart from winning the Wegmans LGA in June, she had finished 10th, 2nd,
6th and 1st after each of her two rounds in her four starts on the LPGA
Tour before being a wire-to-wire winner of the Japan Women's Open
earlier this month." So, a very strong performance last week and in
previous weeks and a wire-to-wire winner in the main event on this Tour
makes Jang worth backing at the same odds as last week.
Ai Miyazato to win 20/1 e.w. available generally
A lot was expected of Miyazato on the LPGA Tour this season,
particularly as she won the LPGA Qualifying Tournament last November by
a record 12 shots, and even though she ranks 21st on the Money List and
15th in Scoring Average in her rookie season, winning this event will
finally bring her season up to expectations. She returned to Japan at
the end of August and has won two of five starts on this Tour, finishing
no worse than 4th on each occasion, and has amassed a total of 13 wins
on this Tour already even though she is only 21. And she has shown that
she does not get fazed when the LPGA Tour comes to Japan. In her debut
in this event two years ago, she finished 2nd and last year she improved
from a very slow start to still finish in the top-10. This year,
expectations are higher and she must believe that she win this week.
Mi-Jeong Jeon to win 80/1 e.w. @

Taking a chance on another of the best home players. Jeon only earned
her JLPGA Tour Card last year and finished a very creditable 12th on the
Money List in her rookie season, but this year she ranks 2nd. Even more
impressive is the fact that she has finished in the top-10 in 14 of her
last 15 events, winning three times. Fatigue must be an issue with some
of the home Tour players as most of them play every single week, but
that is not the case with Miyazato and nor is it with Jeon as she rested
last week. That can only help this week as will the use of a new course. |
