So much for Rosales being fit again and confident about the defence of her title. Gustafson missed the cut, but Rosales once again proved why she should remain a player to avoid backing. The poor performance by Gloria Park completes the wipe-out in this event.

Jennifer Rosales to beat Sophie Gustafson -111 @ Expekt
J-Ro was certainly a player to avoid backing last year as she struggled with a niggling wrist injury and withdrew from several tournaments and under-performed in many others, but she has told the Manila Standard Today that her wrist is "fine" and that she is now injury-free. She appears optimistic ahead of defending her title and while she may not reach those high again this week, she should beat Gustafson who has played in Hawaii twice and has broken 80 in only one round and that was not last year - she shot 81-82.

Gloria Park to beat Meena Lee -111 @ Expekt
Did consider Park for the outrights, but passed so glad of the opportunity to back her in the matchups. She closed in the 2005 season in decent enough form, but it is her record in Hawaii that is noteworthy: she finished 7th in this event last year and 3rd in the previous Tour event in 2002. By contrast, Lee has never played on this course or even in Hawaii, so even if her head-to-head record again Park was respectable, which it isn't, she should have a much handicap to overcome this week with experience of Hawaiian conditions so important.
