FINAL RESULT: 2-1; +7.50pts
Albers/Fischer WON by 4
Light/Martin WON by 5
Pettersen/Ward VOID (Pettersen dns)
Tamulis/Troche LOST by 4 A good profit on the plays even though they had
looked surprisingly close after the 1st round. Five Dimes dodged a bullet with
the Pettersen/Ward matchup ... only six players finished behind Ward on the
leaderboard and it would have been a huge margin of victory for the Norwegian
Solheim Cup player. I doubt we'll ever see that matchup again! Matchup plays (2pts unless stated) Kristi Albers to beat Tina Fischer
-130 @
Five
Dimes [4pts]
Can't see why these two are paired together. Fischer has failed to make the
weekend in any of her last five starts and in two of the last three years here.
Albers, by contrast, has made her last three cuts this season and the last four
cuts in this event, including finishes of 19th, 5th and 21st in the last three
years. Nadina Light to beat Sarah Martin -125 @
Five
Dimes [6pts]
Another mismatch. Since turning professional in October last year, Martin has
played in four LPGA Tour events this year, missing the cut three times and
finishing 79th on the other occasion. Even on the Futures Tour, she has missed
half of her 14 cuts this year. Suzann Pettersen to beat D'Rae Ward -133
@
Five
Dimes [6pts]
And another. Pettersen has made the cut in her last 13 LPGA Tour events,
finished 3rd and 6th on the Ladies European Tour in her last two events and has
finished 5th and 20th in the last two years on this course. Ward, on the other
hand, has played in seven LPGA Tour events this year, missed the cut on six
occasions and finished 70th on the sole occasion that she reached the weekend.
Kris Tamulis to beat Celeste Troche -125 @
Five
Dimes
Again opposing a player who has really struggled this year. Troche finished 36th
in her opening 2006 event on this Tour, but has missed the cut in each of her
four subsequent events, as she has done on both occasions that she has competed
on this course. She has even failed to make an impact on the Futures Tour,
failing to finish in the top-20 in any of her six starts on that Tour this year.
Not such a mismatch in this matchup as Tamulis also has also had problems making
the cut recently, but in their last 12 common events, Troche has finished ahead
of Tamulis only twice. |
