Outright plays (total stake per each-way play: 2pts): This weeks World Cup
is a weak field in comparison to last year with Annika Sorenstam and Lotta
Neumann not coming back to defend so Sweden will have to rely on Carin Koch who
had a very mediocre 2006 season and Helen Alfredsson who also did the same and
normally takes a while to get going.
The US team of Juli Inkster and Pat Hurst represents no value I think as both
have a family to look after and being so close to the holiday season will give
them little time to practise and could be a little rusty.
I think the team of South Korea is a strong one this year as Young Kim has been
in Asia working hard on her game through the Christmas and New Year period and
having come off winning her 3 matches at the Lexus Cup defeating the likes of
Laura Davies, Carin Koch and Brittany Lincicome her confidence is high and I
expect her to have a fantastic 2007.Her partner is a relative unknown to most
but she has a fantastic game. Ji-Yai Shin was tipped up by Stanley for the 2006
Kolon-Hana Bank Championship at 80/1 and duly obliged in 4th place. She was
250/1 earlier in the week but that was soon snapped up by people in the know.
She finished the 2006 season as the leading money winner on the Korean circuit
and judging by the amount of great Koreans who are coming through she has game.
The price of 10/1 (Victor
Chandler and
Ladbrokes)
is not the greatest but as I said this is not the greatest World Cup either.
They have to be backed. 3rd
My other selection is a real gut feeling for Italy. I worked for Veronica Zorzi
last year in France when she won and I can assure all that she is going to be a
real force in the US this year. She is a strong player and has a good short game
to go with it. I know she has been working down in South Africa on her game the
last couple of weeks with Guilia Sergas and the Italian coaches so they will be
ready and the 40/1 (BetFred)
is way too big of a price and could easily win this tournament.

I certainly hope 2007 will start with a winner and keep checking back for the
LPGA tips as there WILL be plenty of good tips to come.
