Outright plays (4pts staked) Stacy Lewis 1pt ew @ 20-1 (Bet365) Slightly surprised myself here but the more I look, the more I see no reason why not. She knows the course inside out from university days, is determined to win properly this year (last year's 18 hole win was unofficial), went 5-0 last month in her amateur swansong at the Curtis Cup, took just 23 putts last Saturday, and ultimately finished 3rd on her pro debut. So her form is hot but she also appears to have put the last round 78 into perspective and wasted no time dwelling on what could have been. Maybe not a price for the value-police but this one reminds me a little of Andres Romero coming off his own major near-miss last year. Eun-Hee Ji 1pt ew @ 66-1 (General) Won for the first time two weeks ago and fared well enough last week too. At 66-1 I'm willing to see if she's been written off as a one-hit wonder a bit quickly. FINAL RESULT: The curse of the par 5s continues: Ji had three of them in her final 6 holes and a birdie on one of them would have given her a place but she managed not one. -4pts |
