Philip Pettitt Jr 0.5pts e/w @ 80/1 Various

I'm going with 28 year old Pettitt this week as he ticks the box in numerous categories for me in that he has course form, ranks highly in what I consider to be the key stats and also seems to be on a progressive run of form. Looking firstly at his course form - Pettitt has played TPC Potomac just once (last year) and managed his best ever finish on the Web.com Tour when he finished 3rd. Back then, he carded three rounds in the 60s and most impressively, an opening round 66, so he can certainly play this course. In terms of stats, he ranks 12th in Driving Accuracy, 38th in Birdie Average and a respectable 58th in Putting Average which will all stand him in good stead. So far in 2013 he has three top 15s to his name, the last of which came at the Mexico Open where he placed 4th the year before, so he certainly plays the same courses well.

Ryan Spears 0.5pts e/w @ 140/1 Bet365

After backing Spears last week in the Mexico Open and him letting me down with a missed cut I was a little dubious about selecting him again this week but the truth is that his stats make him an ideal player for TPC Potomac. Sitting in 7th for Putting Average on the tour for 2013, the 27 year old backs this up with a 45th ranking in Driving Accuracy and 13th in Putts Per Round. He is also 29th in Par Breaking which will serve him well and 16th in Scoring Average at bang on 70.00 which is rather conveniently the Par value of the course. Spears has never played here before and comes on the back of three missed cuts on the bounce but can boast a 5th in the South Georgia Classic last month and is a stand out 140/1 on Bet 365.

Jeff Klauk 0.5pts e/w @ 150/1 Coral

I deliberated over Klauk for a while before deciding to pick him as to e honest he hasn't really performed that well so far in 2013 with his best finish on the Web.com coming last week in Mexico where he finished 20th. However, on closer inspection he did manage a 16th back in February on the main tour in Phoenix which was impressive and his opening round of 66 in Mexico last week was also encouraging. He is 21st in Driving Accuracy, 49th in Putts Per Round and 79th in Putting Average for the year but looking at his PGA stats I noticed that he is a respectable 51st in Putting from 6ft and 4th from 5-10ft. A 30th place back here last year was quite a feat given that he was still recovering from a debilitating brain condition and hopefully he can build on that this year.

Michael Letzig 0.25pts e/w @ 200/1 Various

Another player who has been plying his trade on the PGA Tour in tandem with the Web.com is Letzig who was once touted as the next big thing but has seemingly fallen from grace. An array of missed cuts on the PGA tour have been sandwiched by a 33rd at the Louisiana Open in his only Web.com showing but it is not his form that attracts me to him at this large price, it is one stat. Letzig is 3rd in Putting from 5-10ft on the PGA for 2013 and looking even closer we see that he is also 7th from 5-15ft, both of which will stand him well should DJ Brigman be believed. He is an average 60% or there about in Driving Accuracy which will hopefully be just good enough, especially given the fact that he played the course last year and should be familiar with the layout. It is a speculative punt but at a big price.
