Ben Martin 1pt e/w @ 16/1 Various
The obvious choice this week and the in-form player at the moment is young Ben Martin whose recent form reads 4th/1st/3rd. With only three missed cuts so far this year Martin is having a breakout 2013 and certainly seems to have the game for LionsGate. He is 12th in Birdie Average, 3rd in Total Birdies, 4th in Scoring Average with 69.27 and is no slouch off he tee, registering an average of just under 300 yards. Martin played the Midwest last year too, finishing 6th and carding every round under par in a year where he was most certainly struggling.
Jason Gore 0.5pts e/w @ 45/1 Various
Tour veteran Gore initially seemed a little short in price terms when I first looked at him given that he hasn't really posted any decent results so far in 2013, his best being 11th at the Mid-Atlantic last month. However, on closer inspection it becomes apparent that his game seems ready made for the course as he sits 2nd in Par Breaking, 3rd in Birdie Average, 6th in Putting Average, 7th in Total Birdies and 15th in Scoring Average. He played LionsGate last year. shooting all four rounds under par and managed to finish inside the top 10 with an 8th, I'm sure he can better that this year.
Alex Aragon 0.25pts e/w @ 100/1 Various
Aragon has been a little hit and miss so far this year as he has a victory (WNB Golf Classic) and a runner up (Air Capital Classic) but five missed cuts and a string of other insignificant results. However, there is no denying that LionsGate should suit him as he is 8th in Total Birdies, 29th in Birdie Average, a respectable 37th in Scoring Average and is 301 yards off the tee. He has played the course twice before in 2009 and 2012 and although they yielded a MC and a 58th, I feel as though he could now be ready to pick it apart.
Andrew Loupe 0.25pts e/w @ 125/1 Various
This is my outside bet of the week and the one I have the least confidence in if I'm honest, solely on the fact that Loupe is such a promising talent but has yet to deliver. A season best of 5th at the South Georgia Classic is the only highlight on a record that includes seven missed cuts in 15 appearances. There is no doubt that he has talent and I'm sure it will come together for him at some point and from there he will go on to be a regular winner, I'm hoping this will be that week. Loupe is massive off the tee, hitting the ball an average of 317 yards so distance he has covered this week. With this distance also comes plenty of birdies and eagles as his 12th in Total Birdies and 1st in Total Eagles shows us as well as his 26th in Birdie Average and 15th in Putting Average. He has never played the course before but I am hoping that will work in his favour in that he will be more inclined to attack the holes and go for birdies. Total Staked - 4pts
