We were so close to almost making it three results in three weeks but just came up short last week. The final Web.com Tour event of 2014 lands in Ohio for the Nationwide Children's Hospital Open and the host course, the Scarlet Course, lives up to its name being one of, if not the most, difficult tests on the circuit. Last year Seung-Yul Noh won the event with a score of 12 under, five shots better than his nearest rival so it is quite evident that scoring is dificult and we should be looking for someone with a decent Scoring Average. Hudson Swafford - 1pt e/w @ 50/1 - Swafford was an easy pick for me this week as he comes here on the back of a 10th at the Chiquita Classic following a return to form. During the main season on the PGA he managed to finish 11th at the Quicken Loans National and 12th at the Barracuda Championship so there is no doubting his quality. He has also played Scarlet before, finishing 7th here last year so he will know what to expect. Greg Chalmers - 1pt e/w @ 66/1 - Chalmers held the lead going into the final round of the Chiquita Classic last week but unfortunately capitulated slightly to finish 8th. However, he is an experienced player with plenty of success on the PGA and is known as a player who enjoys tricky courses so he should fare well this week if he can post a round or two in the mid 60s like he has the last two weeks. Jim Herman - 0.75pts e/w @ 66/1 - After what can only be described as a woeful season, with a best finish of 59th at the Barracuda on the PGA, Herman managed to finish 4th last week and was 1st in GIR. I am willing to chance him again at Scarlet, not only as a result of his new found form but because he is an Ohio native who will have local support and comforts and because he should know the course well, an idea supported by his 7th place finish in this tournament last year. Carlos Sainz Jr - 0.25pts e/w @ 125/1 - I am going to chance Sainz Jr again this week as he performed so well last week and nearly brought home the bacon for us. He has been a consistently accurate player for most of the season and has recently come into some great form. He carded a third round 64 at the Chiquita and if he can post a similar round here at Scarlet then it could be enough to propel him to his first win of the season. He hasn't played Scarlet before so it could be a big ask of him but I would hate not to be on him should he show up again. |
