First off, Happy New Year to you all, may it be a prosperous one, specifically betting wise!

An odd time to start the 2017 Web.com season but here we are, a Sunday tee off in the Bahamas on the Greg Norman designed Emerald Bay course. Being the first outing here, there is little information out there about the course but given it is in the Bahamas and on the coast, wind will certainly be a feature and it will be worth siding with a player who is adept to playing in such conditions.

It is also worth noting that the course plays at around 7000 yds so is definitely set up to suit those players who are naturally longer off the tee.

My picks are as follows:

Michael Johnson - 0.5pts e/w @ 40/1 - A fantastic talent who has the accolaide of having finished 4th on the PGA Tour last year at the Barbasol Championship. He is a name I will be backing consistently during the season as he certainly has a win in him like fellow Auburn Tigers such as Kizzire.

Sam Ryder - 0.5pts e/w @ 60/1 - Ryder had a bit of a mixed season last year with a couple of runner up finishes and a host of missed cuts. the one thing that stood out to me though was his 2nd in the Corales Puntacana which is hosted on a very similar course to what he will experience this week. He averages just over 300 yards off the tee so is no slouch and is highly accurate.

Sam Saunders - 0.25pts e/w @ 100/1 - The famous grandson is stepping down a tour this year and could feature high on the leaderboard a few times I reckon. Last year on the main tour he managed a sterling 8th in the Barbasol Championship and in truth, is a much better player than his results show. He is fairly long off the tee and will be very keen to get back on the main tour as soon as possible.

Zecheng Dou - 0.25pts e/w @ 200/1 - The winner of the Chinese Tour Order of Merit and a four time winner last year. Yes the standard isnt quite up to the Web.com but he also managed to finish 40th in the HSBC Champions alongside Martin Kaymer and George Coetzee and a host of other Major contenders. He certainly has a good golf game and could be the next breakout Asian star, 200-1 is too big.

Total Staked - 3pts
