Another week and we are still not on mainland USA but in Panama for the Panama Championship, a great event that has been running here since 2004. The course has a very old school feel about it and is very much a shot maker's paradise. We shall be focusing on ball strikers this week as there are a couple of Par 4 holes that measure over 400 yards that are reachable with a driver and a wedge.
My picks are as follows:
Rhein Gibson - 1pt e/w @ 25/1 - Back to back 3rd place finishes show a player in red hot form and with the potential for the wind blowing agin this week we want to be on side with an Aussie used to such conditions. Has played here twice and has a 6th and 25th to his name, I'm hoping that this week is his breakout. Willy Wilcox - 1pt e/w @ 33/1 - Wilcox was 5th here last year and 20th back in 2014 so he knows the course. He is playing well at the moment, 4th last week and 13th the week before. Augusto Nunez - 0.25pts e/w @ 70/1 - Two top 20s in his first two starts on tour and a man with plenty of experience of Panama on the Latino Tour. Over the last six months he is 3rd in Ball Striking on the tour and this shouldbe a nice fit for him. Henrik Norlander - 0.25pts e/w @ 100/1 - A man who finished 4th in Ball Striking on the Web.com last year and also has the added bonus of finishing 5th here back in 2015. He missed the cut last week in the Bahamas but this course should suit him better.
