B.C. Open
Outright plays (1 unit):
David Gossett to win 33/1 e.w. @ SkyBet
Gossett has yet to play on this course, but his game should suit and he
is playing well at the moment. This course features wide-open fairways,
but small, undulating Bentgrass greens, so the emphasis this week is on
iron-play. He has finished 20th and 30th in his past two events, which
compares favourably against this weak field, but he can also claim two
top-5 finishes and a win on Tour in 2001 (John Deere Classic). Should be
able to finish the job if in contention.
David Peoples to win 40/1 e.w. @
William Hill
Peoples has played this course many times and has even finished in the
top-5, though that was back in 1991. He has also won twice on Tour,
though the last was in 1992. So while, he may not be the player he was a
decade ago, he has still shown some very good form recently. He has
finished in the top-30 in each of his last four events and was 8th in
the St. Jude Classic. If he can bring that form to this event, he should
finish very high on the leaderboard.
Glen Day to win 66/1 e.w. @ Victor
Chandler
Day is another, like many this week, who, if they have won at all on
Tour, did so a few years back. His sole win on Tour was the 1999
Heritage, but he did come close to winning this event last year, where
he eventually finished 3rd. He has shown his best form of the year
recently and though he was in England on Sunday/Monday to try and
qualify for the British Open, he did play well and finished just one
shot out of the playoff for Championship places. Not the best
preparation for this week, but this is a good price, a weak field and a
form player.
Matchup plays (1 unit):
Robert Gamez to beat Brett Quigley -110 @ Carib
Both these players have some very high finishes on this course
(alongside lots of missed cuts) and both head the market, but I'll side
with Gamez here. He leads Quigley 6-2-0 h2h over the past three months
and has just been more consistent for longer this year. Five Dimes price
Gamez -130 in this matchup.
Shaun Micheel to beat Arron Oberholser -115 @ Five
Dimes
In any other event, this matchup should be decided by Friday night -
they have been missing a lot of cuts recently. But while Micheel has
missed four of his last ten cuts, Oberholser has missed six. The other
angle is that Micheel finished 3rd here last year, while Oberholser has
never played this course.
David Peoples to beat Hank Kuehne -118 @
Expekt
En-Joie is one of the shortest courses on the PGA Tour at less than
7,000 yards and with the fairways being narrow and tree-lined, this is
not a particularly good setup for the big-hitting Kuehne. He did finish
19th here last year (missed the cut on his previous visit), but having
also missed five of his last eight cuts, he looks set for a poor week.
Easy to side with the outright selection in this match.

Gossett 11th
Peoples 31st
Day 5th
Poor event, though Gossett and Day did have chances in
the outrights, but dropped shots over the closing holes. Day finished
5th alongside five others for a paltry return and Gossett finished one
shot behind. Quite a week for surprise winners!
