Memorial Tournament
Outright plays (1 unit): Vijay Singh to win 12/1
e.w. @

Paddy Power and BlueSq
Wouldn't normally back players to win back-to-back, but he
did tactfully decide to withdraw from last week's event so he had a week's
holiday to refocus and try to get himself out of the Sorenstam debate. Hopefully
he can now maintain his form that has been so impressive returning from injury
and with an even more impressive course history - one win and three further
top-5 finishes in the last six years - he looks a strong contender this week.
Mike Weir to win 25/1 e.w. @
Stan James,
Paddy Power and

Weir can't boast the same course form as Singh, though he was
4th in 2000 and been solid on his other three appearances, but having won three
times in ten starts this year, he is certainly worthy of attention. He took an
extended break after winning the Masters, but his confidence can't be doubted
and he has won twice this year with Tiger in the field.
Justin Leonard to win 28/1 e.w. @
Stan James
Leonard stole some of Perry's headlines with his 61 on Sunday
when a birdie on the last would have netted him the 59. There is a fear that
there may be a fallout from that near-miss, but his form has been good in the
past few weeks with 9th in the Byron Nelson Classic before last week's
runners-up spot. He also won the Honda Classic in March. His course form is not
too bad either - 2nd in 2000, 7th in 1999 and a win in the U.S. Amateur in 1992
- so 28/1 looks a decent price. Others that made it
to the shortlist: Allenby (8/1 place); Sluman (11/1 place); Harrington 33/1.
Matchup plays (1 unit unless stated):
Stuart Appleby to beat Trevor Immelman -111 @
BetandWin [2 units]
Looking to oppose Immelman who lost out via a playoff for the Volvo PGA
Championship on Sunday. Travelling across the Atlantic is reason enough to
oppose a player and so is being involved in a playoff the week before. With just
two cuts made from five starts on the PGA Tour this season, a missed cut last
year and a career 0-5-0 h2h against Appleby, he looks very opposable this week.
Expekt offer -118 with ties decided at a dead heat.
Mike Weir to beat Trevor Immelman -164 @
William Hill [2 units]
Immelman has never beaten Appleby on the PGA Tour and the same with Weir who has
a far stronger chance of winning this week. Will take the unsavoury odds for an
unexpected matchup. Stuart Appleby to beat Rory
Sabbatini -111 @
Paddy Power [2 units]
Sabbatini had his best week of the year last week en route to
finishing 5th at the Colonial, but he is far from a consistent player and tees
it up this week on a course on which he has previously struggled. In six
previous rounds, he has a scoring average of 75.17 and has broken par just once.
Appleby just looks the more solid player and has a decent history on this
course. Mark Calcavecchia to beat Rory Sabbatini

Calc's course form is even better even though he missed the
cut last year. He was 2nd in 1995 and has been in contention several times
since. He was also 2nd in the Houston Open last month and has missed just one
cut in eleven starts this season. Sabbatini may have another big week, but Calc
looks far more likely to make the cut. Stewart
Cink to beat Adam Scott -125 @
Expekt
No course history and having played at Wentworth over the
weekend, Scott is another to oppose this week, particularly against Cink who has
been in very good form this season and finished in the top-10 in the last two
years. With a 5-1-0 h2h advantage to Cink over the past year as well, these look
goods odds for Cink.
Adding (1 unit unless
stated): Notah Begay to beat John Daly -110 @
WSEX
Should be decided before the weekend as both have failed to
reach that mark in their last three events. But always look to oppose Daly and
particularly on this course as three of his last ten rounds at Muirfield Village
have been in the 80s. Begay made the cut in his only previous visit and a repeat
should be more than enough. Steve Flesch to beat
Adam Scott -130 @
Intertops
Hard to oppose a player who has one once and finished in the
top-15 in four of his last five starts and in two of his last three visits to
Muirfield Village. Can't see him winning another title, but should certainly
beat Scott for the reasons cited above. Fred Funk
to beat Hank Kuehne -170 @ WSEX
[2 units]
Kuehne's game has gone off the boil a little since his two
top-3 finishes in April. His best finish in three starts in May has been 43rd
and there is little reason to expect an improvement this week. He has never
played this course (and experience is essential this week) and Nicklaus has
narrowed the fairwas by an average of 4 yards this year. Funk has played
particularly well in his last two events and hasn't missed a cut here for ten
years. A justifiable price for a strong favourite.
Jim Furyk to beat Justin Leonard -111 @
SIA
Leonard's recent form has been very impressive, but there has
been no-one as consistent as Furyk this year - he has nine top-10 finishes from
twelve starts. He has the burden of being defending champion this week and so
was not considered for the outrights, but against this consistency he should at
the very least provide a hedge play against Leonard should he fail to be as
consistent as Gentle Jim this week.

Very profitable event with profits on the matchups, 18-holes
and outright plays. Very impressed by Perry yet again who built up such a large
lead over the first three rounds that he could still stutter in the final
stretch and win comfortably. This really is a year for experience on the PGA
Tour!
