Bob Hope Chrysler Classic

Initial bet:
6 pts Mike Weir 20/1 @ Sporting Odds / Sportingbet:
A price which I think is around 6 points too long about the defending champion.

2nd bet:
6 pts Jerry Kelly 25/1 @ Stan James:
Has everything in his favour this week and could well start no bigger than 20/1.

Lay advice:
5 pts @ 18.5 Mike Weir & 5 pts @ 23 Jerry Kelly, both @ Betfair:
Don't forget this event starts by around 16:30 UK time TODAY. Both lays should be obtainable at these prices but obviously we have plenty of scope so if you have to close out at a little higher there is no problem with doing that. Just make sure you do it in time!

Update
: No problem at all laying these prices today and you may well have been able to secure lower.
We have
1 pt Weir @ 32.5/1 and 1 pt Kelly @ 40/1 ... all we need now is a little luck!

3rd bet:
6 pts Phil Mickelson 20/1 @ William Hill:
I think they've made the mistake of not realising he played the hardest course yesterday.

Lay advice:
5 pts @ 16 Phil Mickelson @ Betfair:
Just decided to put the lay straight up and hopefully we can get this price, there is some there to lay at 16 as I speak.
Plenty of scope to close the bet at well under the back odds so this is as close to a zero-risk bet as you can get, I think.

Update: Lots of bets have been matched at 16 and under so the chance was there to close out at a little lower than the given price. 16 is still fantastic though, and we now have 1 pt Phil Mickelson @ 45/1.

Lay advice:
3 pts @ 5.3 Phil Mickelson @ Betfair:
Reasons: he's playing the 2nd hardest course today ... he's not proven yet that he's over the problems of last year (although everyone seems to now presume that he is) ... it's always hard to duplicate a very low round the day after. We'll still keep him onside though as it is indeed entirely possible he'll prove a massive point to all his critics this week. Lay up to a maximum of 5.5, no higher.

Lay advice:
6 pts @ 2.46 Phil Mickelson @ Betfair:
He's looking very impressive indeed this week, especially his 64 on what was the hardest course yesterday, but we'd be silly to not guarantee at least some profit ... after all there are still 36 holes to go with some very low scores still out there for the opposition. Let's hope Mickelson proves me wrong but I'm still no more than hopeful! Go up to 2.5 to get the 6 pts back ... we'll then be 5 pts up on the week if he fails, or around 20 if he succeeds. If he is well odds-on after the 4th round we'll probably lay some more to guarantee a double figure profit for the week.

Summary:

Well played to Phil and thanks to him for not going odds-on after round 4 so we wouldn't lay any more back! Absolutely loved seeing this character come back with a much-needed win and to have money riding on it as well? Very enjoyable. I make it we made 45 pts on the original Mickelson bet but gave back 12.90 and 8.76 with the hedge bets, plus 2 for the other outrights, which leaves an overall profit on the Bob Hope of 21.34 pts.
