Final Summary
Wow
Sell John Huston FP at 42 with
Cantor Sports MC MU 50
Profit -4 pts
Huston has 3 missed cuts in a row but his overall 2004 record is ok.
When he does make the cut he rarely finishes outwith the top 50 (only
once) and his average FP over the year is a few points lower than he can
be sold at this week.
Sell Jim Furyk FP at 26 with
IG Sport MU 6.5,
Profit 9.75 pts
Furyk, since his injury, has posted results of 48, 7, MC. That in itself
would suggest he is struggling a little but the MC was at the Open and
the 48th was at the US Open, his very first event. Using the assumption
that he can only get better with each passing week we would suggest a
sell on a player with a course record of 15/9/16/2/10/1.
Sell Scott Verplank at 27 with
Spreadex MU 10.5, Profit 8.25 pts
Verplank is a player we usually support in FP betting as he is so
consistent. His course form is good, he has cleared 27 in each of the
last 4 years, averaging around 19. He is in form currently with an 11th
last week and a 7th in the Open. All in all, a regular sell of Verplank
this year at around this price would have made money, and we will do so
again this week.
Sell Jeff Sluman at 35 with
Spreadex MU 6.5, Profit 14.25 pts
Last week i made a point of saying that Course form wasn't the be all
and end all of FP betting and that sometimes, like in the case of
Stricker last week, it can sometimes just be a run of results. However,
there are players who year after year, put up the case for the "Course
over Current" punters and at the Buick Open it is Jeff Sluman. In 8
years, 36th is his worst finish and he has in that time posted 6 Top 30
places. As a great believer though in current form we have to study
that. His record is three Top 30's in his last four events. Good enough
for me.
Sell Briny Baird at 38 with
Spreadex MC MU 50, Profit -6 pts
Baird in 2004 has not been the regular high finisher he was in 03'. In
fact, it is back to the Byron Nelson in May since the last time he even
beat today's quote. I still feel that he is a player who in time could
prove to be better than a 38-41 FP quote and he proved he could play
this course by finishing 2nd last year.
Sell Jerry Kelly at 34.5 with
Spreadex (spread free, as 4 bets placed) MU 8.5, Profit 13 pts
No great course form and his current form is good but not spectacular.
This is a bet based on price and nothing else. Kelly should be around 31
so to add 1.5 pts to Spreadex's quote gives us a value bet.
