Canadian Open @
Betfair
Summary:
Loss = 5pts. Thought the main danger with Perry would be a slow
start, in fact he got to tied-7th at halfway despite getting the worst
of the draw and then fell straight away. Jacobson was tied-5th nearing
the end of his first round - he then fell away to miss the cut! Yet
another blank week on the outrights.
Selection 1 Back:
Kenny Perry 3 pts @ 42
I think the price is too
high for Perry in this field. A little like Maruyama last week, he
hasn't been setting the world on fire in recent weeks, but he's still
shown enough to suggest the layers are unfairly dismissing him. He was a
top-priced 50/1 for the final Major of the season less than a month ago,
and yet we can get not far off that in this much weaker field despite
him coming off a fine weekend at the WGC-NEC the week after. He has his
first-ever Ryder Cup appearance coming up next week and will surely be
keen to go into that in good form, and I've also noticed that a lot of
his best performances in the last two years, including two of his wins,
have come on very small greens like they are here.
Selection 1 Lays:
Lay 3 pts @ 11 (to lose 30 pts)
Lay 6 pts @ 5.1 (24.6 pts)
Lay 6 pts @ 3.05 (12.3 pts) Profit if successful 56.1 pts
Selection 2 Back:
Fredrik Jacobson 2 pts @ 50 (or 50/1 with
SkyBet,
UKBetting
or
Totalbet)
Jacobson was unfortunate not to
make the Ryder Cup team (a pity for him and Europe I feel) and I
wouldn't be surprised to see this gutsy character bounce back and make a
big point to everyone here. His performance under loads of pressure at
the BMW was super, with his normally fabulous putting just letting him
down on the final nine, and I fully expect him to be finishing the
season strongly now all the distractions of the Ryder Cup and becoming a
Dad for the first time (3 months ago) are settling down.
Selection 2 Lays:
Lay 2 pts @ 13 (to lose 24 pts)
Lay 4 pts @ 5.9 (19.6 pts)
Lay 6 pts @ 3.45 (14.7 pts) Profit if successful 39.7 pts
The lays are
at set prices, based on the original back price, and are left up for the
duration of the tournament. Please note:
they have to be put up as soon as
possible after the market is placed in-running.
