FINAL RESULT: 0-2;
-2.00pts
DiMarco 24th
Leonard 66th
Briefly, for one round, it looked as though DiMarco
might earn a return on the play. But it was all too brief this week.
* UPDATES: Allenby is a non-runner
& DiMarco is now 33/1 @ Ladbrokes *
Outright plays (1.5pts):
Chris DiMarco to win 28/1 e.w. @

Sporting Odds
and
Victor
Chandler
Hard to ignore finishes of 6th, 2nd and 6th in DiMarco's last three
starts and he has been playing particularly well since June. The course
changes at Glen Abbey to make the fairways narrower and the rough
heavier should suit his game, though he did finish in the top-10 in
1998. Unless he coasts after a slow start, he really should be in the
mix again on Sunday evening.
Robert Allenby to win 40/1 e.w. @
Tote
Allenby has no Ryder Cup to worry about next week so less danger of him
coasting after a slow start. He comes into the event off successive
top-10 finishes and has finished in the top-10 in his last two starts in
Canada. The tougher course and smaller greens should also help Allenby
this week.
Justin Leonard to win 40/1 e.w. @
Tote
Leonard might have some rueful thoughts about the Ryder Cup next week as
he had a great chance to win the PGA Championship and earn his place in
the team. It was no surprise that he finished a lowly 50th in the NEC
Invitational the following week, but he has now had two weeks' rest and
now has the goal of playing in the Tour Championship. He has finished
3rd on this course (1999) and 2nd in his last appearance in this event,
so he should be confident of another good showing, particularly with the
course changes.
