Outright Picks - PGA Tour

Tipster: Stanley

Chrysler Championship

FINAL RESULT: 1-2; +3.75pts

Singh 1st
Cink mc
Hensby mc

Poor performance from Cink and Hensby though they would only really have hoped for a place finish as this was a straightforward win for Vijay.

Outright plays (1.5pts):

Vijay Singh to win 9/2 @ SkyBet, Paddy Power, Victor Chandler, UKBetting and Totalbet
Difficult to look beyond Vijay despite the short odds. Considering that he had won his previous FIVE regular PGA Tour events before last week when he finished 2nd, these really aren't such bad odds. He finished 2nd on this course last year and is widely acknowledged as a good wind player which will be important in Tampa. If he is to beat Tiger's nine wins a season (2000), he will have to win both this week and next, so there should be little chance that h will take it easy to save himself for the Tour Championship.

Stewart Cink to win 28/1 e.w. @ UKBetting, BetDirect and Totalbet
A surprisingly large price for one of the surprise players of 2004. His last three starts on American soil have returned finishes of 1st, 4th and 2nd, while his two wins at Harbour Town (2000 and 2004) are evidence enough that he is a good wind player. As a top-5 ranked player on the Money List, he should be at shorter odds than this.

Mark Hensby to win 80/1 e.w. @ GolfingGods
And so should a player who is ranked 15th in the Money List. Maybe these are appropriate odds for the Tour Championship, but not a regular Tour event and the week after he played so well in the FUNAI Classic. It would have been easy for him to fade after his strong 1st round was followed by a poor 2nd round, but he came back well over the weekend and was a title contender throughout until Ryan Palmer's 62. No course experience, but top-15 finishes in each of his last three starts in Florida suggest that he is comfortable on Bermuda greens and he looks likely to contend yet again.
