Matchup Picks - PGA Tour

Tipsters: Stanley (72-hole matchups) & Andy (18-hole matchups)

The International

72-HOLES FINAL RESULT: 4-1-0; +7.46pts

Lickliter/Gonzalez WON by 10
Haas/Lowery WON by 17
Triplett/Lowery WON by 11
Lehman/Browne LOST by 9
Haas/Faxon WON by 9

Good profit on the matchups to ensure the event finished in profit. Denied only by Tom Lehman who played great for two rounds and like a rabbit in the other two.

Round One Plays (1 pt unless stated):

Justin Leonard to beat J M Olazabal and Matt Gogel 2.5 @ SkyBet LOST (-1.00)
Leonard seems fair value in both the spreads (v. Gogel) and in this 3-ball

Further 72-hole plays (1.5pts unless stated):

Tom Lehman to beat Olin Browne -103 @ Five Dimes
Just don't see Browne being the favourite in this matchup. He has made the cut in only three of eight visits to Castle Pines and bar two top-10 finishes in the last two months, he is hardly showing any real form. Lehman has a 11-3-0 h2h record against him over the past year, so shouldn't be the underdog.

Jay Haas to beat Brad Faxon -111 @ BetandWin [3pts]
This had been a good event for Faxon, but he has missed the cut in two of the last three years. It has also been a very long time since he recorded a top-10 finish, so unless Haas suffers too much from playing in the U.S. Senior Open last week, he should have a straightforward match here.

72-hole plays (1.5pts unless stated):

Frank Lickliter to beat Ricardo Gonzalez -110 @ Sportingbet and Sporting Odds
Gonzalez has missed four of his last seven cuts with a best finish of 58th. He would struggle to beat Lickliter in Argentina in this form, so should stand no chance on the PGA Tour.

Jay Haas to beat Steve Lowery -110 @ Expekt [3pts]
Haas has finished ahead of Lowery in six of eight common PGA Tour events in 2004 and although he may be tired after the U.S. Senior Open last week, he is still the far better player. Lowery did win this event in 1994 and finish 2nd after a dramatic closing few holes in 2002, but otherwise his record around Castle Pines is poor.

Kirk Triplett to beat Steve Lowery -110 @ SkyBet
Triplett has had five top-20 finishes at Castle Pines since 1995, Lowery only one. And with a 7-4-0 h2h lead over Lowery in 2004, Triplett should be too good for him again this week.
