Andy is on holiday until the Open Championship
John Deere Classic
From Shaker:
Buy Jeff Maggert FP at 30 with Spreadex
for 0.5 pts
I do not keep these records, but I'm fairly sure it's a very rare
occasion indeed that Maggert's finishing position is set at 27-30,
whatever field is taking part. The reason is obviously his recent form,
namely his last-time-out 3rd place in the US Open, but even this above
average season for Maggert is littered with poor finishes. His finishing
position for 2004 makes up at an average of over 34 (15 completed
events, not including a WD), and this despite five top tens sneaking in
there. His paltry record of 8 top tens in his previous three seasons
shows the standard of golf which is his norm, and between the start of
2001 and now he has followed a top ten (13 of them) with a finish better
than today's buy mark of 30 on only 2 occasions. Consistency is not a
word associated with Maggert's career any more and I think that finish
in the freakish US Open (coupled maybe with his fine Masters effort last
year) has distorted some people's view of him - he clearly cannot be
relied upon to back it up this week with any kind of decent finish. His
finishing position average taking into account last season as well as
this stands at around 38 (over 40 for last year alone) and I cannot see
any reason why this price isn't at least 4 points higher.
MU 50, Profit = 10 pts
A pleasing result with, despite Maggert making the cut, there was
never much danger of collecting less than the maximum profit; he was
almost last of the qualifiers when withdrawing around the halfway stage
of the final round. Nice to spot an undoubtedly good price and be
rewarded by the expected performance.
