Barclays Classic 0-3, -4pts.
Update: Back Greg Owen 0.5pts @120 at Betfair Back Greg Owen 0.5pts e/w @100/1 available generally A very familiar name to this page! Still not being priced correctly and I'll keep backing while that remains the case. He ranks 2nd in the field for GIR which should make him well suited here. Like Sluman he wasn't present at Pinehurst and that should be in his favour also. Back Paul Goydos 0.5pts e/w @250/1 at SportingOdds/SportingBet A player who has finished 12th and 13th in his last two starts, has a further 4th place to his name this season, and has finished 11th and 16th before in this event should not be anything like these odds in what isn't really a particularly strong field and where post-major hangover question marks exist for many of the market leaders. ---------------------------
Doesn't seem to be an abundance of value around this week, but one price certainly has caught the eye. Back Jeff Sluman 0.5pts @140 at Betfair Back Jeff Sluman 0.5pts e/w @125/1 at Ladbrokes I think it will be an advantage for him to have not participated at Pinehurst last week. While many of the top end of this field could be physically - and probably even more so mentally - jaded, Sluman should be fresh. Also fresh in his mind will be his excellent performance at the Memorial, when he lead on day 1 and stuck around all week to eventually tie for 3rd. Sluman is a good iron player and most of his succesful weeks are built on consistently getting on the green in regulation, which is key here. His course form isn't overly convincing - some top25s a while back, but he's been absent on the weekends more often than not. However, a deeper look reveals that last year he was quite handily placed after two consecutive 69's only to get disqualified due to a mix up with the ball he was using. Going for a betfair/bookie combo as I will probably look to trade the outright part, and also have the added security of a possible return from the e/w part - should there be a run away leader for example.
I have some other players in mind, but really looking for the betfair market to 'fill out' a bit, as liquidity seems quite low at the moment.
