FINAL RESULT Palmer T39th beat Ogilvy beat Daly by 9 Furyk beat DiMarco by 2
Bets: 3 Wins: 3 Losses: 0 Profit/Loss = +5.53 pts
Ryan Palmer to beat Jonathan Byrd -110 @ Stan James (Stake 2pts) A very decent price for Palmer who should go well in this tournament. Palmer is currently in great form finishing second last time out in the BC Open while Byrd has shown precious little this year. There is not much to go on in terms of course form with Byrd having never played the course and Palmer missing the cut last year on his only attempt. But this years Palmer is a far classier player. The Warwick Hills course is essentially a wide fairway putting contest with added emphasis placed on the fact it has four reachable Par 5s. Hence a strong Par 5 performance is beneficial and Palmer is currently 19th on the tour with respect to this stat compared to Byrds 42nd for par 5 performance. Also Palmer won at Disney in October last year on a very similar type of course to this and this season he's putted brilliantly, 16th on tour compared to Byrds 112th. Geoff Ogilvy to beat John Daly -114 @ Expekt (Stake 1.5pts) Very little to separate these players in terms of current form as both have showed up well recently. Ogilvy has 3 good finishes on this course in the last 3 years, while Daly had pretty poor form on this course until last years second place finish. In terms of h2h’s Ogilvy shows up well with a 21-15 lead over the last 3 years and a 3-1 lead in the last 3 months. As for stats Ogilvy is 32nd on the tour for putting, 13th in terms of par 5 performance and 24th in terms of par 5 birdie leaders. While Daly is 76th on the tour for putting, 149th (!!) in terms of par 5 performance and 57th in terms of par 5 birdie leaders. However it is Daly’s current schedule that is the clincher here. He was competing in Germany on Sunday, then he moved on to California where he played with Tiger in the 'Battle of the Bridges' event and now he has to play the Buick in Michigan on Thursday. Hardly the ideal preparation and Ogilvy has the necessary game to win this match. Jim Furyk to beat Chris DiMarco -125 @ Sportingbet / Sporting Odds (Stake 3pts) Even with those irritating tie odds lurking around this price is just crazy. Although DiMarco is an excellent all-round player in decent form and with good course form this bet is all about Furyk. He is easily a better player than DiMarco, he is in the best form of his life (ignore the Open, he can’t play links golf) and as a previous winner of this tournament has one of the best course records around. His h2h stats against DiMarco in the last 3-years are 26-9-1, in the last year 9-4-1, in the last 3 months 5-1-0 and on this course 4-0-1. Without the tie the shortest available price is -165 so these odds deserve to be snapped up. |
