Canadian Open

0:5, -6.25pts

Update:

Back Loren Roberts to finish in the top five 2.5pts @ 20/1 at Centrebet

While I've gone for some up and coming players in Warren, Harris and Tomasulo, Roberts falls firmly in to the veteran category. He has always been know for his accurate driving and good iron play and so I think this course should be right up his street. The fact that he is a past winner at Harbour town and has a decent record round Riveria, both of which are similar tight tree lined tracks, backs this up. Having recently fulfilled his dream of winning a major championship (albeit on the seniors tour) his confidence should be sky high. He should also have happy memories of Canada after finishing 8th in this event last year.

Back Bob Estes to finish in the top five 2pts @ 16.5/1 at IASBet

Estes has been playing very consistently of late without ever really threatening to win. he clearly loves playing in Canada as he hasn't finished outside the top 15 in four appearances in the country. I think it's only because his recent good performances have been under the radar that he remains at odds like this, and if he maintains his form it won't be long before he features high up on the leaderboard - hopefully it'll be this week.

Back Charles Warren 0.25pts e/w @400/1 at Coral

Said before I'll keep backing Warren when he's at prices like this. I feel certain he will win sooner rather than later on this tour.

Back Michael Harris 0.25pts e/w @400/1 at Coral

Back Peter Tomasulo to finish in the top five 0.75pts @50/1 at Centrebet

No I hadn't heard of either of them before today either(!), but they are two players who might just have far better chances here than the odds they are at. Michael Harris has finished 2nd and 1st in his last two events on the Canadian tour and came 10th in last week's Nationwide event held in Canada. He has made the step up to the big tour before and certainly wasn't shown up to be out of his depth in making the cut at the Buick Open just over a month ago.

Peter Tomasulo won the aforementioned Nationwide event last week and also has great recent form on the Canadian tour, with a win and a 3rd place in his last two events. He is still young and a possible future star after a glittering college career which included captaining the Univeristy of California's NCAA championship team. Word is he is a solid iron player with a great short game and good course management - all of which bodes well for his chances on this traditional style tree lined course with very small greens.
