Betfair Picks - PGA Tour

Tipster: Chris

Odds: Betfair

John Deere Classic

Final result: 0-7, -10.6pts.

Disappointing end to what looked like a fairly promising week for a while.

Update after round 3:

If Lewis slips up at all then we have a couple of players right in contention, so putting up some speculative hedges at low odds. Also still hopeful Jobe can make a push and get in to the places.

Update after round 1:

Back Joey Snyder 1pt @110 at Betfair

One of the top 20 rated players in the field and in touch with the top of the leaderboard after a 67 yesterday afternoon. This is about double what his price should be.

------------------------------------------

Back Zach Johnson 1.5pts e/w @50/1 at Ladbrokes and BlueSq

One of a very small number of class acts in the field, and one who can be trusted better than most to close out a tournament when in contention. Too big a price for a player of his quality here.

Back Vaughn Taylor 1pt e/w @80/1 at BetDirect and Skybet

Like Johnson he got his breakthrough win last season. He has run in to some good form of late and has course form as well - shot a 63 in the opening round here last year.

Back Marco Dawson 0.3pts e/w @250/1 at WilliamHill/Stanleybet and Boylesports

16th place at the Western Open last week is his best finish of the season so far, and hopefully marks a return to some form after a dodgy patch. Had been playing solidly all season in strong fielded events - against this lot the price looks far too big.

Back Brandt Jobe to finish in the top five 1.5pts @25/1 at Centrebet

Back Arjun Atwal to finish in the top five 1.5pts @25/1 at Centrebet

Back Dean Wilson to finish in the top five 1pt @37.5/1 at Centrebet

Don't want to keep harping on about the weak field, but there is a real lack of strength towards the lower end of the betting. These three stand out for me at big prices. I'm not entirely convinced about their abilities to win - Jobe and Atwal both surrendered very meekly when presented with a chance via a playoff at the BellSouth Classic, but these look good value place bets.
