Memorial

Finishing Positions (0.5 pt Stakes)

Bets:   7   Wins:  3    Losses:  4   Profit/Loss =  -12.5 Pts. Most of the European profits were given back on this tour as Van Pelt, Jacobson, Glover and Toms had big weekends.

Pre Round Two Trades

Buy Bo Van Pelt at 24 with IG Sport M/U 4, Loss 10 Pts
5 under after day 1 and tied for 3rd suggests Van Pelt is in for a big week but we have 38 players at -2 and better and although we do have the problem of the chances of missing the cut being greatly reduced there are enough quality players at this event to suggest Van Pelt should be nearer 30 even allowing for his current score.

Buy Ian Poulter at 31 with IG Sport M/U 31.5, Profit 0.5 Pts

Poults is -4 but if ever there was a player who you could describe at the top level of golf as inconsistent then Poulter is your man. His 2005 PGA record consists of 7 missed cuts, a withdrawal, a 72nd, 33rd and an 8th at the Bob Hope. With a fairly tight leaderboard and those previous form figures he should be nearer mid 30s.

Buy Lucas Glover at 26 with Spreadex M/U 10, Loss 8 Pts

Buy Joe Ogilvie at 25 with Spreadex M/U 50, Profit 12.5 Pts

Buy Trevor Immelman at 35 with Spreadex M/U 50, Profit 7.5 Pts

Buy Fredrik Jacobson at 34.5 (Spread Free) with Spreadex M/U 18.5, Loss 8 Pts
Four final trades on players who given their position in the field are arguably just a couple of points too short. The challenge in this game is to find prices where you think via probability that you can gain a couple of points average profit on your bet and the only way to do that is to trade when the price, in your opinion, is wrong. In the case of all 6 traded players today I think we are on a bit of value but with the caveat that all should make the cut and leave us open to the sort of risk we endured last week.

Note: If anyone did not trade Toms at 24 yesterday I would recommend trading today at 22 with Sporting. With the risk on so many bets though I don't think it is a good idea for us to trade anyone to more than a half point risk which will allow us to trade a few players.

Pre Round One Trades

Buy David Toms at 24 with IG Sport M/U 10, Loss 7 Pts
We have to tread carefully with buys this week as we have a 105 man field with a few players unlikely to make the cut even although they only have to beat 34 other players to do so. Therefore, most of the big names should survive to the weekend but even allowing for this Toms is a little bit low at 24. In his two previous trips here, a few years ago, he actually managed a missed cut as well as a 51st place the other year. Of course he has shown excellent form last week to come a close 2nd to Leonard but looking at his results throughout the first half of this year he has thrown in a few bad performances.
